I'm new to the Blue Oval scene, just a few questions. I'm rebuilding a 91 LX Hatchback for my son but I want to eliminate all the computer- emissions- airbags & such and put a mild 302 in place of the 4 banger that's in now. Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has a list of internal engine parts to use to make the "mild" 302 this also would be appreciated.

Yeah, it would be cheaper and less headache to start from scratch. Get him another car that's already "built up" and save the aggravation. Just my honest opinion, because they are too many Mustangs out there already done, or at least with the suspension in it already.

First of all, welcome. This isnt really a classic area question, but its a mustang in need. The 302 is a very common engine, so anything performance or stock can be found very easily. One of the main things that you will have to deal with first is weight difference. The old suspension is made for the little 4 cylinder and the new engine is going to be hundreds of pounds heavier. It will sag. Being that you want to keep the engine "mild" so he doesnt go crazy. I wouldnt do anything to it. Am I right to assume that you already have the engine?

Yes I have the engine 1980 302 and a c6 came out of a Crown Vic or Gran Marque. Now my brother is a die hard Ford enthusiast and he says the Mustang has an adjustable k-member does this effect anything?

I dont think that the K-members are adjustable, but they are easily replaced. The K member is what the engine is bolted to. This is a good link if you want to upgrade the front end and stiffen things up.
