THe GTO's interior is sweet and the power is awesome but I must agree that the body styling is a little bland . . .not going to turn to many heads in that

The GTO name for most people stood for a great looking (sleek) and fast race car. Ive been hearing many comments of why the 2004 GTO is not deserving of the 64 Pontiac GTO. However people fail to notice that the original GTO was in fact the ferrari GTO. Ferrais are widely known for their circuit racing (great handling) background. The 2004 GTOs are also known for their excellent handling characteristics and their circuit and road racing background. So DID the 64+ Pontiacs ruin the GTO name?
The ORIGNIAL (the best)
The WANNABE (ruined the name, not even close to the original not a true gt racer but a drag racer, cant even turn hahhahaha)
2004 GTO CLOSE ENOUGH (at least the monaro is known for road racing, the old monaro won bathurst many times, the new one has won targa tasmania (tarmac rally) and both bathurst 24hr (international race beating ferrari mosler lambo bmw and 911s)

Jugador TRUST ME MATE the GTO name is known throughout the world as a Ferrari NOT Pontiac. As for Ferrari not making enough GTOs to make the name legendary, this is totally ridiculous. Ferrari has never and will never be a mass manufacturer. Ferraris are specialty cars. Even with limited numbers their vehicles are renowned and admired throughout the world.
Please buddy join some Euro car forum and f1 forums. Inquire about what they think the GTO stood for. I bet that most replies would either be sports car racing class "GTO" or Ferrari GTO.

Thats a bit narrow minded dont you think? People around the world think America have three famous cars 1) vette 2) mustang and 3) viper (known for performance through old movies). Names like Pontiac GTO is virtually unknown to the general public around the world. The GTO name however is known throughout the world as a ferrari.

i dont care about the whole world though...you can call it narrow minded, but i dont see why i should call some car that they barely made any of and costs insane sums of money legendary, i just call it rare.

In my opinion it boils down to this,a car has to have apeal and as far as im concerned and anyone who isnt in love with the name or the brand of the car can see that it has no apeal. Now i will agree nice engine but as far as interior goes i too like to be comfortable but when i bought my car it was not for cushy seat i wanted to feel the power at the wheel and under my ass.I also like knowing that its almost impossible to mistake my car for any other. The same can not said about the new gto.
As a ford fan i dont mind if gm wants to screw up the return of one of there classics, but as a car fan in general i think they should be ashamed of what they have done.

mach368 everyone is different mate with different tastes. There are many people who prefer power and luxury. Just ask the BMW, MB, audi, saab and vw owners. This car is a good thing for GM and America. While euro cars have grown in America, locals have been squabbling amongst each other- with aggressive, over styled and retro cars. Its time that GM counters this euro threat with a quality car at a cheaper price.
