I've read articles that show the 2003 Mach 1 beating an 04 GTO everytime. Higher MPH and faster 1/4 yet the Mach1 was only rated at 310 hp and the GTO at 350.... I believe it was even printed in a pontiac magazine ;)

I've driven an 04 GTO and was not impressed, compared to my 02 Z. The IRS sux, the M6 was smooth but didn't seem to pull like M6 F-bods I have driven (stock). My A4 pulled harder (when stock). I got to run against one also, but I already had a few minor mods and raped the GTO. Personally, I am not a fan of the GTO.

Mach 1 vs LT1 = ugly for LT1 Mach 1 vs LS1 = drivers race
The LS1 really should win with equal drivers. More hp, more tq, pretty equal weight.
ls98 is the man, i agree 100% the ls1's bigger engine puts it over the mach1 just by a little :-D but mach1 is far prettier.
some stock mach1 times

Mach1 is can run nasty times, just needs a good driver and some nice conditions, so ls1's dont be too cocky
the mach should smoke the z28 in the 1/4 mile...from 70mph on..hardly anything touches the f bodies..i cant stand them but dang they are fast when they get up in speed..ive seen a stock mach i run 13.40s before and ive also seen MANY camaros and t/as run low 14s high 13s
i have seen the same numbers REAL LIFE. i dont know whats going on here. that mach I would beat the z any day. as far as stock t/a getting high 12's, i just dont see it. thats what stock 03 cobra gets and it has more hp. the problem is that there are too many 'loyal' chebby and pontiac fans in here, which i like, they have a lot of good info and advice, and have helped me alot, but some just dont know what real life is. they are living in a world of chocolate and flowers, IN MY OPINION. i am a big american muscle fan, but what ford can do with a 281 is way more impressive then what chevy has done w/ 350. oh, and i am gonna have to see w/ my own eyes a t/a beating an 03 cobra stock for stock, cuz it aint gonna happen, and to say that even a bad driver in a z will beat a mach I shows how smart some of these people are. sorry guys, not buying any of it
I agree with 01gtvertible and mystic those WS6's can't run with a stock Cobra much less a Mach1 you guys are living in a dream world. Tell you what a bunch of us will be in Gainesville on Sat at 9am bring your cars to run them we will see who is going to run low 13's high 12's. Until then just stop talking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I could be there I would just to run and have fun. But what was said above that what FMC has done with a 4.6 compared to what GM has done with the 350. Well no matter what design whoever uses, it's based on hp/cid. If the odds were even as to a 4.6 pushing 300hp (Mach 1), then the even swap would be the LS6 (ZO6 motor). SO, tell me now who would run 12's. Just like what happens when a ZO6 gets a s/c. then it's back to the "IT'S A BIGGER DISPLACEMENT" Oh well, it's fun going back and forth.

Exactly how many links would it take for you to believe it? How about a quick one of a Mustang magazine running 12.9 and saying a 12.7 pass wouldn't surprise them. Read up: http://www.stangbangers.com/01_Bullitt_Article2.htm

You guys both need to do some research before your stupidity leaks out and infest other Mustang owners.

A Mustang mag testing a GM car??? I have never seen a GM mag test another brand of car. SOMEBODY'S WORRIED!!!!!
Mystic...Apparently, you have not read any of my posts in this thread. I had ran 4 Machs last year. The only one that stayed with me from a dig or roll was a modded one vs. my pure stock A4, Z w/ 2.73's All the digs were on the track, rolls on the highway from the track. He had CAI, Pulley, full exh and he was M5. The others were a car behind but stayed there till about 110-115 then I started to pull more. I don't wanna open the hatorade, but facts are facts in my experiences. Not to say what I did to 4 stangs last weekend up in Louisville. Till I ran into the modded 04 Cobra. (bowing, shaking head)

Ha, I just street raced a late model Z28 the other night. I think that poor boy is still scratching his head trying to figure out what the hell happened to him. LOL!

Hate to burst your bubble, but it wasn't an LT1. It was an LS1, and those numbers in my sig are my STOCK numbers. The car is currently waaay past stock.

Yea, I saw your site......wheels, a louver and hood pins really blew that kids doors off!!!
Dude, I'm just yankin your chain. I know the Mach's are fast. They are the first real car to put against an LS1. I just just like racing them cause they are the only modded n/a stangs that give me a run.
OH, that is sweet dude, I missed that one. what shot are you hittn? I know a guy here that I raced last year and he was planning on getting a kit for this year. He was the guy that I raced that had the b/o's. He said he wanted t get the NX and hit the 125 jets. That should put him in the low 8's hi 7's (1/8th). which is where I'm at now, so we'll be even again. but I'm not sprayin yet.

So how does a Mach 1 fare against an LS1? here is the MMaFF version: stock Mach 1 vs. stock 04 GTO here is the pontiac magazine version: stock 04 GTO vs stock Mach 1 Note that the Mach1 was also $3400 cheaper. Take that LS1 owners
Let me note that the 2004 GTO also boasted 30 more HP than a 2000 Cammaro SS (40 more than an 01 Z28) After doing some research, I've found the e.t. of a 2000 Cammaro SS of 13.8... It has more displacement (1.1L), more horsepower(10hp), less weight(26lbs).... still slower than mach... Note that in the above articles that the mach still has pretty conservative final drive ratio (3.55) (ideal would be 4.10 or 4.30s....)

Did we not already go over this? Can you not read?
quote:
Trap speed indicates that there is certainly more e.t. to be found in the GTO. Some better tires and a sticky starting line will bear this out in the future. For comparison sake to another late Pontiac, the 3,740 race weight 2002 Collector Edition T/A with an automatic and a 3.23 rear gear ran 13.13 at 104 mph at Englishtown, New Jersey for the September 2002 issue of HPP. The GTO has the advantage of more rated horsepower at 350 as compared to 325 for the Bird, the 6-speed over the automatic, and the steeper 3.46 gears. But its heavier at over 3,900 pounds race weight (sorry, the track had no scale for a proper weigh in and the 3 drivers weigh between 155 and 180 pounds, published curb weight for the GTO is 3,761 pounds). So posting 105.57 mph shows that there is power is there to reduce e.t.'s further.
2.24 60'....that's gitin r dun alright.
The GTO is no f-body!
EDIT: take that douche bag.

LOL! I'll have to get one sometime! BTW, if you look real close at the last photo, you can just make out the purge line on the pony's ass. When I purge, it looks like the pony is blowing gas! I know I am a sick sob.

AND I WILL SAY, THE GTO SUCKS. I DROVE'EM, RACED THEM BLEW THEIR FRIGGIN DOORS OFF!!! Now then, as 98 said, the GTO is not an F-body. 2 totally different cars. I guess the Magazine needed an LS1 to beat up on. Now let them go against a 02 Z28...OOPs' I didn't see that article. The results would be the same if they went against a LS1 vette. No hope for the Mach. Hey, Let me spray a 100 dry shot...vs your ??? wet shot...but i get to use my stall t/c. hahahahaha
