Why the craze in 4 bangers?

yellow4.6 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/25/2003 11:56:51 AM)

Why are the younger generation stuck on 4 bangers? Are our V8's fading away? Please say there are still some young guys on here who love the V8?

oh yeah, the love for the v-8 is there,  but the love for the insurance on the younger people is not.. under 25 and you get slaughtered by insurance premiums

I'm 18, and I'll never drive a 4 banger.  There's no mistaking the rumble, and torque that comes from a V8.  Hopefully, the future will make room as well, in light of the more economically minded car builders - V8s will never die if I have anything to say about it!

they are cheaper and they want to be like everyone else. if there was a new movie with nothing but trucks there would be an increase in trucks. just like the motorcycle with the biker boyz movie

insurance.  gas.  you can still make em run like hell if you get the right kind.  id take a V8 any day, but i dont have the money to use it.

Don't worry.  I think it's the fact that all the 8 cyl. cars are up there is price.  And cause of movies like the Fast and Furious.

Stupid people. Namely thje car manufacturers. How many 4 and 6 cylinder models available vs 8 cylinder models. They are more profitable, just like fwd, it's all about the suits making more money. DW-03GT37980.7302314815

We could discuss the pros and cons of I4 vs V8 all day.  Price, insurance, ease to mod, gas milage, etc.  For me, you cannot beat the sheer bang for the buck of a V8, namely a mustang.  Yes there are some fantastic I4s out there as well as many imports that have really good taste, but they'll never feel the rumble.

gorbs88 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/26/2003 2:22:51 AM)

Yah, there is no way to beat the sound of a V-8...BUT those smaller motors are gettin pretty wild...with money you can make anything fast......i now own 2 mustangs and a 92 tsi talon.....you gatta admit that 2.0 litre is pretty amazin and you can have 300hp for cheaper then 300hp in a mustang.....not cuttin the stang but when you play with turbos you can make huge power for no$$$$$...thats my 2 cents worth.....dont worry...will sell the talon before i sell both mustangs...

My next 4 banger won't rumble.....but it'll probably beat most of ya'll at the track and you'll never see it coming

yellow4.6 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/26/2003 10:16:54 AM)

I couldn't care less who beats me, i'm not an F1 driver. But I will say, I can't think of a car (irrespective of price) with a better sound than a 4.6 stang with Flowmasters. Its the beat thing about the car IMO yellow4.637981.9008217593

Jugador1 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/26/2003 11:57:21 AM)

my 4 banger can rumble thanks to a y-pipe to dual flows

tripsevn7 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/26/2003 11:57:36 AM)

that is the hook with mustangs,  the way they sound is all their own.. my 98 sounded evil with no cats and flows

my 02 still has the stock exhaust    still debating on what to put under her now

GSRGuy18 -> Why the craze in 4 bangers? (12/26/2003 7:47:34 PM)

I got my car simply because I liked it.  I could have gotten a fox-body or LT1 F-body and been cheaper, but I really didn't want one.  And the Mustang GTs from the year my car was made were no quicker, heavier, and alot more common.  So I'm happy with my GS-R.

I can, a '65 Pontiac with a built 400, hot cam, long-tubes and Spintech mufflers. Can't beat the old school baby, it rumbles like no other. That's why Pontiacs are known as "ground pounders."
