there has been "talk" of a retro model to come back. but i believe its all rumors. gm is in big trouble right now. they have so many models of the same car and theve all flopped. i doubt they are gonna take any risk on anouther new car to come out anytime soon.

I would discontinue the SSR since there aren't that many being sold and come out with the Camaro in the retro style. That would give the non-Ford buyers something to talk about especially if they did it up as good as what Ford has done with the Mustang.

I bet this thread gets moved to Off-Topic.

Not gonna take that bet.

Editing because I fixed the link. Basically this is what it says.

"DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. has killed plans for a new line of rear-wheel drive passenger cars slated to reach North American showrooms in 2008, in large part to free up resources to bring its next generation of large pickups and sport utility vehicles to market quicker....
GM's decision to kill the Zeta program puts the brakes on development of the next generation Pontiac GTO sports car, and new entries for Chevrolet, Buick and Pontiac. The current GTO is already being produced by GM's Holden unit in Australia....
Many in the industry expected the Zeta architecture would mean the return of the Chevrolet Camaro and production versions of the Buick Velite concept car, which debuted at the 2004 New York auto show to rave reviews."

As it well should, it does not have anything do with the 05 Stang or any Stang for that matter, if ever a post should be moved this is it. You guys are little too overly sensative in here.

I was not being overly sensative here, I was mearly point out a fact that it will be moved. There has been alot of moving of threads these days even when they pertain to 05 Mustangs. That's all I was trying to point out, not a sensativity issue at all.

Thank you and we now return to the original discussion.

It doesn't pertain to an '05 Mustang.

Ok, this is what I've heard. The new Camaro is still tied up legally, but GM was going to bring back the Chevelle in it's place. But now some GM exec (whom I can't recall) has decided to kill the Aurora platform (I think that was the platform) which was to be a rear wheel drive platform. So, as I have heard, don't look for anything remotely like a Camaro before 2011. This is all rumors, but I work with alot of ex-GM people so there is some degree of truth to it anyway.

Maybe I am getting confused but I thought it was the Zeta platform they had cancelled?!

GM dont have a damn clue how to do business - first thing they should do is shut down Buick (which most people think they will, other idea was Pontiac) and save money in that way, ie - duplicating cars..........next thing they should do is build a new Camaro - are they so dumb as not to do that after how succesful the Mustang has been. Unlike most of you I am not loyal to Ford - my previous vehicles were Dodge Rams, Blazers, Jeeps, etc, etc - I bought a Mustang not because I think Ford are awesome but the Mustang is awesome!!!!!! This is where GM would get so much business as even people who are not loyal to GM would come and buy a Camaro, I know if it blew me away I would possible be tempted one day, although I love my 05 GT so much that I doubt that at this point

I stand corrected, you are right in that it was the Zeta platform. I thought I may have been off. I've always been a Chevy guy myself, but the Mustang was just too cool to pass up.

Some guy in a 98 Vette tried to race me today, only managed to take me by 2-3 car lengths in a 1/4 mile. After we pulled over he was pretty cocky about it too, until he found out I only had a V6. He had a manual trans too. I guess the guy didn't know how to speed shift. lol
