I was wondering if anyone out there uses their cobra as a daily driver? 70-100 miles per day? I know some will say "why would you do that in THIS car" but I am thinking...if i have to be in the car, why not have lots-O-fun doing it? Besides, aren't these cars made to be driven?

I am curious to know if anyone else uses it for longer commutes? What are some of the downsides? Besides gas mileage and wear and tear?

My commute is 70% highway, 30% city.

Thanks for any input.

I dirve mine everyday, like 10 miles, but on the weekends i drive it home which is 160 miles one way. I love driving it, gas mileage on the highway isnt bad at all. City sucks cause i cant keep my foot out of it. Get one and drive the hell out of it. i got a 10th anniv. 03 and its got 31,000 miles on it, it was made to be driven......

all depends. the lower the miles the more the car is worth, bottom line. so driving it all the time decreases its value.
To that I say - so what. I love my 04 cobra. Its a dream to drive. I got it new in January 05 and it now has 9000 miles on it. I drive it everywhere. I get about 20mpg, which is good as far as im concerned because I drive like a maniac. Enjoy it while your young right? Next year I'll be in Iraq again and the car will be in a garage for 9 to 12 months. Come back and get another car that gets good mpg.

I drive mine every day to work, it has 45K on it, and I'm running several mods to include exhaust, CAI, ECU upgrade and dyno-tune, 14 lbs of boost (2.80 upper), 1700CFM Accufab TB, etc. It makes 477 SAE RWHP, kicks ass, and has been good to me. I drive the sh_t out of it, and that forged bottom end has held up great so far. Downsides aside from what you mentioned are non existent.

I drive mine daily. Ive been to GA and back to TX in it once already. If you are gonna keep the car forever then why worry about the miles? Thats my opinion.

I would have to agree with everyone. I used to drive my '03 daily to work, about 50miles per day, about 90% on the highway. Now I just drive a better economy car, but not because I don't want to put the miles, just gas was killing me. Besides, when this motor goes, it will get something more powerful anyways. Who buys an 03-04 Cobra because they want it to sit in the garage so they can get a good re-sell value for it? C'Mon folks, we're not Vette drivers here. We bought it to tame the other cars on the road. So, don't sweat it, buy it and drive it like it's your last trip in it!

Mine's a daily driver. Even if I had enough $ left over to afford a reliable daily driver, (can't forget the wife's car!!), I would still drive it every day. I'm on the power lease program, and I'm SO gonna exceed my alloted miles! The only way I wouldn't drive this car every day (besides winter) would be if I had 10 or 20 other badass cars!

I have one on the way...a 04 Cobra. I plan on driving it every day for now. But, a round trip to work for me is only about 5 miles. I might buy a beater down the road to save in gas.

I keep reading about how some people are worry about gas millege ,the hell with that i say, i wont let insurance and gas companies tell me what to drive,we all knew when we got in this cars that they were built to be driven and gas was not a issue.
I drive mine every day for 50 miles round trip and i fill the tank every 4th day,so what i'm planing to keep this beast for long time, until the wheels fall off.

Update: I did buy me a beater this weekend...97 F-150 Pickup. Actually it is pretty nice. I will altenate between the cobra and it to get to work. The cobra will definitely be my weekend car.

I drive mine all the time! I pay too much a month for it to let it sit in a garage and collect dust! I do have another car to drive, but my problem usually lies in that I have to walk through the garage, around the Cobra, and out to the other car to drive it. I honestly never usually make it past the Cobra to even get in the other car.

Although I have to admit, seeing a sign for premium gas being $2.69 a gal did make me say, "not today" once. But with all this 50 degree and sunny weather in Jan. we've been having, I've decided screw the gas prices and drive around just for the hell of it! I love this car way more than any other I have owned!

I drive mine every chance I get. I live in Seattle and believe it or not it rains here. My brother saw me driving it in the rain and freaked.
...he owns a ZR1 Vette.... frickin vette owners.... I told him that Ford had made a break through in technology and now the car was waterproof.
How in the hell can you own a monster like this and not put it on the road?

Biggest question for this is where do you live? If you live where it snows you won't want it for a daily driver.

Get a $500 Saturn or something for a winter beater.

I bought my cobra to be a track car. It burns way too much gas to be a daily driver for me. I drive a Honda Civic as my street car b/c I drive 70 miles a day and my honda gets 40 mpg.

drive it everyday, enjoy it, get the most out of it............dont worry about resale value......even if your going to sell it, so what? have fun in it, its worth taking a 3-5 grand hit in resale (why you would sell this car short of needing to eat, i have no idea). dont worry about resale, gas money, anything.........its a stang, dont baby it!
