If you havent read my first post(Crazy weekend) you may want to. On the first night as we arranged for the run w/ the Talon, someone suggested that I run an LT1 Camaro(not the one I raced and got beat by). THe guy didnt have his car so nothing materialized. The next night as I began to cruise, he saw me and light up like a Christmas Tree. He wanted to run. We met at a gas station and began to talk. As the time progressed, he became more and more of an ass clown. He only wanted to run for money because he didnt want to mess up his car. I later found out that he is a "bad" driver. (Take that for what you will) I told him that I had eleven dollars and that is it. The rest of the people including his Camaro boys thought that was real funny and just wanted to see the race. He would't but wanted to race this weekend. Here it is, I did some research and found out he has a slightly modded LT1 Camaro w/ exhaust work (it sounds real nice). I just want to put him in his place for the way he was acting which was like an a$$hole. I see that he is about 285 hp stock and I lost to an LS1 by about one to 1.5 cars. How would I stack up against a LT1. I also have Nitto 555's and underdrive pullies+ the stuff in my sig. Is this an even winnable race or what??? What is the outcome change w/ a 100 shot of giggle gas in my hp machine??? Thanks for any input.

Agreed if a LS1 only beat you by 1.5 cars that tells me either he was not giving it all he had (I do this all the time) or he was a terrible driver. For the sake of arguement lets call the LS1 a 13.5 car (if he was stock), your car with the mods in your sig is a 14.5 car, so a full second in the 1/4 is 8 to 10 cars. Now an LT1 car is about a 14.0 car with a good driver, headers will get him down to about a 13.8 if he is lucky. If you can drive and he has trouble it will be a win for you, but you will have to work for it. I would try to psyche him out a little act confident but not overly so, plant a little seed of doubt in his mind, he might panic and spin hard and that will be all you need. *Edit I just noticed the pullies and tires (are they drag radials or just regular 555's?) so you might be a 14.2-14.3 car.

Ok. They are 555R's. ANd about the psychology of the race, I have already incorporated it into the meetings. I was saying, "Yeah, I will race you." I wasn't a punk about it but he took me as arrogant because of his, I'll call "fear" of my car. That is the wrong word but the best that I can think of at the moment. He told me that I had to have something in order to be ready to race his car. I told him what I had. He wanted to race no spray. That is why I asked about the spray. Is it ok to hook up for a street race. I said no spray last week but is it ok to change for this week. He said that we couldn't do any major mods this week. He really showed that he was nervous because I was cool with the talking. His boys are awesome and I have talked to them before but he because more pissed off as the night went on. Most people(this race drew a crowd from the gas station and "EVERYONE" was talking about it. They were stopping me as we left to find out details) said, "WOw, I didn't think that mustang would hang with those camaros that good." I am not thinking that my car is the absolute fastest but, I really want to shut this guy up. LIke I said,"according to another guy, he is a bad driver; but that can mean a lot of things." I could beat a Lambo if the guy can't get the car out from a stop. Thank you for the input!!!

ORIGINAL: Zoie_daGT Thanks JD. Iwas hoping that you would reply cause I see you as one of the GM experts on this forum. Did you get lost going to GMforums.com....J/K. I will check on the Nitto's in a min. Naw I play with Stangs alot also Back to tyour race. If you agreed that you would stay on motor than no don't spray on him, in fact take the bottle out for the race, it;s dead weight at that point (this is why I don't tell people what is on my car, it's not my fault if you don't ask). I would just make sure you have your car dialed in before hand. For example pull out all the extra weight (jack, spare,cd's,books) if you have an amp and subs take them out. Next go out and practice your burn out and launch, play with tire pressure, I am glad to see that you have a drag radial, drop the pressure in them to about 20-25 psi and do a test launch. My stratagy is to put as much of a gap on him as possible at the launch, this does a few things. 1. They usually panic and burn the tires 2. They panic and mis-shift and 3. Somtimes they just give up. It should be a good race, but if you stay cool and he gets jittery the race is half won, plus if he is on a regular street tire, his launch will be bad LT1's make a good amount of torque and burn the shat out of the tires. Good luck and keep me posted.

ORIGINAL: Zoie_daGT Ok. As I said, it has been raining out today. It did stop and started to dry off. It is still too wet to race. Oh well. There is always tomorrow. I went out anyway at least to see if he showed up too. Well, I went out and hung out with some people for a little while. After a little bit, some of the guys that saw the race or who I raced last week showed up. The guy I was supposed to race did not. Hmmmmmm... I started talking to them about car stuff and started asking about this guy's car. Well, I did get some nice comments about my race and how I held up to an LS1. It had all been racing for fun. Found out that the one I had previously raced had juice and some real extensive work on it. The one that I was supposed to race I really don't know that much about. You are right LT1; aren't they btwn. 275 and 285 hp??? Oh well, I did have some fun talking to them and about their cars. I will have to try again tomorrow. By the way, although most thought that I would get beat, they did still want to see the race. One said that the LT1 runs about what a 98 Cobra will run stock for stock. I am in no way trying to down you or say ur lying at all. I am just tryring to clarify that if the Lt1 had extensive work, heads, cam, full exhaust or anything like that, he must have been a pretty bad driver to not pull hard on a 96gt with headers. I know you CAN beat him, cuz i beat an LS1 in an 1/8 mile. Ill be damned if he wasnt pulling on my from about 40-80. If it was a 1/4 mile or a street race, i would have gotten raped. Just dont be nervous, but dont get too cocky, cuz after the start, you will not pull on him unless he misses a gear or messes up something else. But good luck.
