Let's put it in the simplest terms possible when considering drag racing.

Open differential = Stock 05 V6 mustang = Bad
LSD = Stock 05 GT mustang = Much better
T-lok = LSD = T-lok equipt V6 = Much better.

Torque is like electricity, it will seek the path of least resistance out of the power train. LSD try's to counter act this tendancy using mechanical means, an open differential does not.

The 2005 V6 mustangs came with the 7.5" open differential rear end. So the T-lok would be a good investment for almost all performance minded 6 owners. It has the added benefit of giving extra traction in snow/rain as wel. The Ford Racing Kit should include all the parts needed for the job. Though I'd suggest a qualified installer do the work.

Hey that explanation works for me...

The t-lok seems pretty cheap (199) on v6mustangstuff.

What do installation costs run to get this installed?

My best guess would be roughly 2 hour labor charge at what ever rate. Might not take that long but T-lok install won't be on the service managers job/time chart and they'll over estimate. Still not a bad deal and you can always put some away while you wait for the T-lok to show up in the mail.

Not that hard if you know what you're doing.

Though I just posted 3 times in a row in attempts to explain LSD VS OD so I wasn't about to say DIY in the same thread.

whats the point of a t-lock? only half of the power that goes to one wheel will split into both giving you 105 hp to each wheel (you couldnt peel out) and thats no fun

Very good info Despoiler. I have the traction lock on mine. Will the T-lock still work?
