A body of mine was telling me he know a guy with some sort of high end clutch in a POS S10. He would hit a certain RPM and the trany would just slide right into gear with out the clutch
I have driven many diesel tucks a trucks trany is synchronized to shift with the engine rpm so you don't have to use a clutch. But i have never seen it done on a gas motor. Will the 05 mustangs do that or is it bad for the trany? I like the fact about less ware on the clutch but I don't want to sacrifice the trany.

you can find the RPM that the clutch is not needed but there is no reason to do that and you chance some damage if you miss the correct RPM. clutches in big trucks are used to start and stop. depressing the clutch slows the engine down too fast and makes shifting more difficult than by not using the clutch. i drove a Mack 20 speed for a whole summer years ago. it had a 5 speed and a 4 speed combination transmission. you would start out with the 5 speed in second and the 4 speed in first. start moving then shift the 5 speed thru all the gears, shift the 5 speed to neutral and then the 4 speed to second, then shift thru all 5 speeds again and progress. what a hoot. shift 10 or 12 times and have only covered 100 yards. you never used 1st in both trannys at the same time and never used both high gears at the same time so you actually only had 18 speeds available.
A friend of mine works in a VW dealership and always drives home different cars. He has been using one of the Diesel Passats a lot letely, and he can shift without the clutch just by listening for the right RPM. Not exactly recomended, but a Diesel engine and tranny can generally take a bit of beating.
