I just had a muffler shop install 2 flowmaster 40's. They ran a true dual setup meaning no h or x intersection. My mustang now sounds like a beast and vibrates the heck out of the car and I want to tone it down some. It is almost unbearable when steady at 2 grand. I did some research and realize i should have the shop run a cross section (h) between the 2 pipes just like the gt's have. This will help some with the unbearable harmonics and torque. What about resonators? Does it make sense to add resonators to my setup or get 2 milder mufflers. Any suggestions are appreciated!

The tips are 5' long.

Wow, sounds like you've got some pretty bad vibration. I'm running duals with GT take-offs on mine. There is a slight vibration at 2100 RPM, but mostly it's a blip as I drive through that RPM range. If the crossover doesn't help, you might try installing a stock harmonic dampener on the exhaust. Depending on how long ago you got the exhaust, the shop may still have the one they cut off your stock exhaust.

How large is the diameter of the tips. I have 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 on mine.. they put 3" on it so I could see how it sounded and it was LOUD!.. I have some vibration, but not much,

an h or x pipe should cure your concerns.

Had the shop weld a crossover and it helped immensely. The vibration has gone down a lot. There is no more popping when I rev the engine. I am not setting off as many car alarms either! Sounds great and everyones' head turns as I drive by...Including the GTs

That is probably the best thing you could do. I waited 2-3 weeks to have it done, and I wish I had done it sooner!

It's now silky smooth, without any of the harshness.

Nice! Glad you got it toned down to a decent level! In a quest for ever louder exhausts, I guess there is a limit (well, at least for some!). Though, I bet there are a few out there just waiting for that extreme drone of true duals without any crossover.

you really need the crossover pipe on dual set-ups in order to balance the exhaust pulses.

I agree. It was the best $60 I've spent on the car so far.

which version of the 40's did yall use? the original or the super or the delta flow? im thinkin about doin the same thing...is your system cat-back or did you go in front of the cats?
