Ahhhh finally a vette encounter and kill. It wasn't by much, but it was enough to make me happy.
First of all, just remeber I DO respect the V8, and did own a f-body. Now to the story....
Well I was on my way home yesterday and saw a set of round tail lights in the slow lane. I decided to check it out, so I pulled up along the side of him and scoped this thing out. It ended up being a nice black C6 containing a male driver of about later 20s and I assume his gf same age. Well I let him pass me to see the car completly (you know to see if it was legit and wasn't a cop or anything). Well after that I passed him again to give him a thumbs up. He returns it with a friendly wave. I go on about my commute leaving him behind doing the speed limit.
Later down the road I see his lights FLYING up on me. So I down shift and gass it as he comes along the side of me. After this he realizes I'm game for a quick run. He then points ahead and wants me to run him. I down shift and give him a tap of the gas noting I was ready. We both gun it together and I jump about half a car. I was REALLY nervous since I knew I had to shift from 4th to 5th (a tough shift in the past). Well I stuffed the clutch to see him regain composure and break even. At this point I was amazed, I started to pull SLIGHTLY while in 5th. We didn't get to run more since traffic was approaching.
We then both pulled in to a gas station, but he didn't even want to talk to me. He did at least say good run, but then walked off. I at least wanted to chat it up, but I guess he didn't.

Yeah, a Vette kill is always a good one to hear about. I raced a slightly modded Z06 last night at the track and I was nervous and missed second gear. I let the clutch out thinking it was in gear already... I was wrong. LOL He was a car and a half in front of me and I started pulling back pretty hard. By the time we crossed the traps, I was about a half to three quarter car in front of him. It was like 90 degrees and the DA was like 4000 so we only ran a 12.9. LOL

you claim to run all over everything. let's let him post his power. i know a guy with with similar stuff on his wrx and he makes almost 300 awhp. and the STi has 70 more hp stock......so do the math

well there is a few STI's around here with more mods then that. and i pull almost all of them from a roll. And the ones that do beat me, i am usually within a carlength or 2. a C6 would murder me.

Anyone driven a C6? I have. My brother bought one 2 weeks ago and let me drive it for 1/2 hour....by myself (he trusts me). That car - at highway speeds - is a freakin monster. Cruising at 55, you can drop it in to 2nd (not a typo) blast up to 80, hit 3rd and blow past 100. I'm sure what Sti guy is saying is true, but C6 man was either a) not trying very hard, b) caught way off guard, or c) a complete idiot. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to quick little 4 bangers, but the C6 will eat up many cars from a highway roll. The car will do 180! Do you think it takes 10 years to get it up there? It pulls hard from 50 right up through 140. Oh yeah, it ain't too bad from a dig either.
Put me in a C6 and I'll race an STi from highway roll all day long.

I honestly dont believe a C6 is going to beat an STi off the line. Maybe the STi will lose in the long run die to the AWD slowing it down but an slightly modded STi should pull 1.7's and 1.8 short times all day long on a decent track. A C6 might do that with drag radials but doubtful. The modded Z06 was pulling 2.0's and 2.1's all night last night on BFG drags. But I know, I know... he was a terrible driver or something was wrong with the car, or he wasnt getting into it, or some girl flashed him her tits as he just pulled off the line and he was distracted or something to that affect. :eek:

For the mods I have, I am more than likely putting TO THE WHEELS around 310-320. This is just a rough estimate. My story is indeed true, so take it as you please. As I stated before in my story....... I only ran through 4th gear and into a small amount of 5th. I would have LOVED to do it again, but the guy obviously didn't want to go, since he just drove off. Why would the C6 not want to do it all over again if I took him out once already? I would have hopped back in the C6 if I were him and tried to show me that wasn't all I had. Think about it.

There could be many reasons why he didn't run again, and I said that I didn't doubt your story. I just think that there was something missing because I honestly think that if I was in that C6 it would have been a different outcome. The C6 is putting more to the wheels than 310-320 and it is light as hell. He should have beat you handidly. I think you beat the driver and not the car.
I like the Sti - it's one of my favorite cars in Forza Motorsports on XBOX. ;)

It's not like 2 fast and 2 furious where you run out of nitrous at key times. Besides, I made 367rwhp on a 50rwhp shot of gas, I now make a measily 375rwhp on MOTOR! I'll make 400+ with the manual put in. The best the EVO has EVER ran is 7.87 @ 89 mph....how impressive is that? Hell, his best short time is 1.67...all hail the AWD...I went better than that **** on NITTO'S! But sure, that EVO is just too much w/o the gas....:eek:
I wish some of you would do more drag racing and less internet racing.

Cobb products are strictly for Subaru as far as I know, but they do research on cars. What I mean is they do kinda like an in house testing concept. They work mainly with subarus, but some of thier employers have much more knowlege in other companies. There was one guy that did a show last month and he spoke about he was more familar with Hondas, and drag cars. They obviously know alot regarding cars, so......
As far as exhaust, I am running a Mad Dad header and up-pipe (local vendor here, with great parts), along with Bosal down-pipe and cat-back it's 2.75' throughout. And NO it's not like a damn fart cannon!!!! With the set up I have on it, it sounds mostly stock until i get on the gas. Not obnixious or anything, just a nice boxer rumble. [8D]

Yes, well, I was mainly aiming that towards Matthockey, since he doesn't even have a car, and JD, b/c he's an idiot. I know you were kidding James, I just didn't clarify it enough. Everyone that knows me knows the reason I got nitrous....to outrun the EVO. So I don't ever remember jumping on you about that...? It's hard to outrun people that dump TONS of $ in their cars when you don't....nitrous was the easiest way out. It shut a lot of people up, in other words.
JD, you still don't understand....I'm not picking on your car....I'm not picking on what it ran, I'm wondering how in the hell it trapped so low. How many times must I tell you that? You could have ran a mid 15 and trapped at 135 mph, then I'd have been more impressed than you trapping what you did.
You guys can make fun of my car all you want. It creeps...to me, at least. If you're going to make fun of it though, at least have some facts....tell me my rear end sucks or something, not "the bottle doesn't last forever..." Why doesn't it? Is it a depleting resource that we're gonna run out of sometime soon?

well, since i go to Commerce almost every friday night and average about 10 runs a night i think i do alot of racing. and yes i do have a car. i used to have nitrous but i hated having to fill the damn thing every other week at $200 a bottle. the reason i don't have pics or video is because unlike some people there are more important things for me to spend my money on, like more mods, my girlfreind, gas, car payment and insurance. oh, i didn't mention school. i work 30 hours a week and go to school 40 hours a week. i don't have time to post pics if i could.

I'm 20, I work full time, go to school full time, have a gf, get 11mpg, have two car payments and two insurance payments....so YOU have no excuse.
$200 a bottle...I can buy a brand new bottle for that much....or have mine filled 5 times AND it's a 15lb bottle.

i have a friend with a sti and he runs low 12's with just a downpipe (no exhaust after dp he cut it off) rear seat delete, springs, boost controller and upgraded intercooler.

I do not doubt he was pulling 2.0's 60 footers but how then could a car with almost 50 less rwhp (using stock numbers) and about 300 lbs heavier pull a 1.86 like I did. You sarcasticly blame the driver, when anybody with a clue knows it's his fault, the car could go in the 1.8's easy.

Right, he had a drag radial tire, yes I have some suspension but nothing all that great, it sounds to me like the guy was pussy and was afraid to launch the car. Hell I was being gental on my car because I am still on the weak ass 10 bolt and was leaving at 3000 rpm, he sould have been able to do at least that.

I do not doubt he was pulling 2.0's 60 footers but how then could a car with almost 50 less rwhp (using stock numbers) and about 300 lbs heavier pull a 1.86 like I did. You sarcasticly blame the driver, when anybody with a clue knows it's his fault, the car could go in the 1.8's easy.
Its all in the suspension and tires. Hell.. I pulled a 1.85 60' in my Bolt-On GT in Seguin Raceway in San An TX.
Right, he had a drag radial tire, yes I have some suspension but nothing all that great, it sounds to me like the guy was pussy and was afraid to launch the car. Hell I was being gental on my car because I am still on the weak ass 10 bolt and was leaving at 3000 rpm, he sould have been able to do at least that.

I went a 1.66 60' on Nitto's, 305rwhp, , leaving around 2100 rpms, and a bone stock suspension....I don't even have subframe connectors, at least not on the car. I rarely went anything over a 1.79 with just DR's on the car. So I'd definately say the driver of the Corvette you seen, sucks ass.
I'd definately say a C6 could do equally as well as me, and should do better. Even with their IRS, they tend to hook very well.
My buddies EVO has went a best of a 1.68 60' I believe. The advantage definately goes to a decent driver with some decently sticky rear tires in a RWD vehicle. I love it when people think an AWD car dominates the world! Simply because they cut 1.7x short times....import people are the worst for that ****.
MaSTi........just for the record........i HATE you. :D lol sweet car dude. i LOVE it. needs white wheels tho, or bronze but less spokes(if it were my car). i dont like multi-spoke wheels(say more than like 10/12). but, either way, sweet ride.

LOL...One of my buddies in HS puked down the defroster vents in his car while driving...he traded that car in soon after.

My STI would put the HURT on a C6 from a stop or roll ;)
I've personally never been to the track, but I've seen a few timeslips of people running the same exact setups pulling 11.5s on slightly less detuned setups than mine. Hell, the GT35R at 15PSI on an STI ran a 12.1 @ 113.

There are numerous stories of everyday average drivers w/ GT35R setups putting carlengths on C5 Z06s from a highway roll. Having owned two heavily modified Subaru's, I'd say it's safe to say that I'm a good driver with them ;)

Well I was on my way home yesterday and saw a set of round tail lights in the slow lane. I decided to check it out, so I pulled up along the side of him and scoped this thing out. It ended up being a nice black C6 containing a male driver of about later 20s and I assume his gf same age. Well I let him pass me to see the car completly (you know to see if it was legit and wasn't a cop or anything). Well after that I passed him again to give him a thumbs up. He returns it with a friendly wave. I go on about my commute leaving him behind doing the speed limit.
Later down the road I see his lights FLYING up on me. So I down shift and gass it as he comes along the side of me. After this he realizes I'm game for a quick run. He then points ahead and wants me to run him. I down shift and give him a tap of the gas noting I was ready. We both gun it together and I jump about half a car. I was REALLY nervous since I knew I had to shift from 4th to 5th (a tough shift in the past). Well I stuffed the clutch to see him regain composure and break even. At this point I was amazed, I started to pull SLIGHTLY while in 5th. We didn't get to run more since traffic was approaching.
We then both pulled in to a gas station, but he didn't even want to talk to me. He did at least say good run, but then walked off. I at least wanted to chat it up, but I guess he didn't.
Gotta add this in to a very old post:

The guy i raced tonight had all of the "power" mods as you except for the typhoon and tune. At 300/300 HP/TQ there is no WAY your 3300 pound car is gonna pull on a 350 RWHP (at LEAST) vette like that.
I started to reel that guy in by the time he was in 4th gear. And I don't want to make a video of what a C6 will do to me from a 4th gear roll. I would simply get chewed apart.
Somethings gotta be up. The guy tonight was guessing at around 280 AWP? So he's not that far off from you, at 300/300.

not everybody lives right down the street from a track. the closest quarter mile track to us is MIR or mason dixen. that's a good long drive.

I'm not saying I have 300/300 right now. I am over that mark, but haven't dynoed since the tune. Also there is a HUGE difference when the car gets a Protune.

The guys over on stiforums said that his car (the guy I raced) with full exaust and a uppipe should be making 270 RWHP or so on a dynojet, and with a tune something like 300 RWHP.
300 RWHP, or even 320 rwhp, is not anywhere near enough to outrun a C6, even dead stock, from a roll.
The guy was driving the **** outta the WRX, powershifting every gear, and throwing flame at each shift. On the launch he was riding the limiter and then dumping the clutch. It wasn't a rape at all, I was just able to outpower him a bit on the top end. In the 1/4 mile with the launch I got I would have never caught him
If my car can hang with this one, no way you can outrun a stock C6 with what is done. I;m not saying your lying, im saying something was up. he didn downshift, or just got a bad punch or something. If I were you I would not run around thinking I was gonna beat up on c6s.

IF you also look at my orignal post, this was a short ass race. It was only like one gear for me, with a touch of another. Do you know how fast we have to change gears???? The gearing is soooo short in the STi it's just stupid. I know if I had a run in with a C6 from like 45-150 I'd get killed, but look at my orignal story!!

Ahhhh that's why you weren't impressed. The guy you ran was only running 16PSI. Usually the average off the shelf map is 17.5PSI while a tune can put you at 20-21PSI that tapers @redline. Nice run in though, unfortunatly I can't view any video since work sucks and restricts it, and my computer at home is worse.......slow laptop. [:@]
