I'm thinkin of putting a box with Audiobahn AW1251T Subwoofers in and I don't really know anything about them. Now I'm not trying to rattle my neighbors teeth out,but I'd like something that sounds half way decent.I know you all have your favorite subs but I'm not looking to spend a grand on an enclosure just want to know if Audiobahn is crap or not. THANKS!!

Not really crap but, they are alot of flash and chrome. There are better choices for the same money. What kind of budget are you looking at and are you buying local or online?

On paper it looks good

Size: 12 inch
Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 1.00 - 2.00 cu.ft.
Rec. Ported Box Dims: 1.30 - 3.15 cu.ft.
Free Air Usage: not recommended
Sensitivity: 92.1 dB
Frequency Response: 24-1000 Hz
Recommended RMS Power: 400W
Peak Power Handling: 800W
Impedance: dual 4 ohms

But the sound also depends quite a bit on the enclosure type you choose: single, dual, third order, forth order bandpass, the Cubic feet given to each speaker, port length and diameter, and the type of amp you feed it with.

Actually audiobahn = crap. You can get much better for probably less from many other brands. JL Audio, Resonant Engineering, Sounsplinter, just to name a few.

You dont have the money for jl if your only willing to spend a grand, i'd go with a kicker l7 with one of the new planet audio amps, or some kind of memphis hpo...Audiobahn is overrated, horrible...

Isn't that the kind they sell at AutoZone?? A while back, in another car, I had 2 10" JL W zeros with an Alpine amp and head unit, and it sounded great!

from experience audiobahns look beefy and cool (flames etc.) but there are a lot of other brands that out perform them. If you want awesome subs stick with MTX, kicker, JL audio and alpine. MTX used to be kinda crappy but they are makin some kick a$#$$$ subs these days.... I have 2 12" pioneer subs which were givin to me, i bridged them at 4 ohms and they hit hard! Right now im savin up for 2 12" alpine type r's and 2 alpine 400 watt rms amps so that each sub has its own amp, im making a custom enclosure to fit the specs and a fully dynamated trunk, the setup should be pretty impressive once im done ill post pics up but it might be a month or 2 before i get the setup in....

Seriously just go listen to them..................they do suck in a lot of ways!
Eclipse has some cheaper subs that are still great. Memphis also comes to mind!

Memphis is a big no-no. Almost as bad as Audiobahn. One of my friends is head installer at a place that really pushes Memphis and they get a lot of returns. It'd be a cold day in hell before I had either of those brands in my car. Depending on what you want, I'd look at Kicker, Eclipse and Elemental Designs. Kicker is really good for SPL. Their subs really pound in a ported enclosure, especially if it's tuned right. Eclipse and Elemental Designs won't usually hit as hard, but they will have better sound quality. Of course there are exceptions, but in most cases this is what you will find. I have also heard good things about JL but they are kinda pricey and their subs pull a lot of power. It would probably cost more than you're willing to spend to have a good JL system. Pioneer also makes good subs. Friends of mine have had Pioneer Premier subs that sounded great.

Are you just referring to their subs or their amps as well? Their amps are awesome. Solid as a brick. I have a Memphis Belle in my Acura TL running 75 x 4 and 1,000 x 1. It sounds incredible. I did have the M-Class 500d and the 4 channel but, just sold them. I have never had a bit of problems with them and would highly recommend them. I have never had any of their subs or speakers so, if that is what you mean, ignore the rest, hehe. I would not really rate Kicker any better than Memphis but, Eclipse and ED are for sure a step above the other two. But also, they all make different different models from less expensive to high end. All of the brands high end stuff is going to be pretty good.

They see problems across the board. I know one kid in particular who had a channel blow on his amp twice. How many Memphis amps have you had? I'm sure they're not all bad, but for the money I would buy some other brand. Same kid had a capacitor go bad (pretty sure it was Memphis). Some people like their speakers, but I've heard their components and it's just not cutting it. Those new Pioneer 6 1/2 components sound WAY better. The subs are ok I guess. Haven't really heard anything about them going bad. I still would go with a different company. That's my opinion though and we all know what opinions are like.

I have had three. I still have the Memphis Belle, I had an MC500d and an Mc2004. Both were great and never gave me problems. I personally would consider them some of the best value in amps. I would put my Belle up against about any mainstream amp. Excluding high end amps. But like you said, just opinions.

Polk was probably a good choice. I liked their products from a year or two ago. Haven't really heard anything out of them lately, but I'm sure they're still a good company

Audiobahn looks flashy, and sounds flashy. My buddy has a set, and his 4Runner bumps loud, anyone can hear him from a mile away... but when you get in the car all it does is make you deaf and drowns out the music. Other brands are better quality, with cleaner hits and better sound... not to mention they are cheaper.

I would go with cadence before i bought audiobahn. The prices aren't that much more and the subs and amps are great.
