I noticed in the description that it is for the 4.6L, so I called and verified that it is only for the GT V8. They also stated that there was no listing for the V6 model.
ya know, it's kinda funny.... when MMR came out with their intake and then the high flow tube, saying no tune was needed, many people jumped on them, saying it just wouldn't work without a tune.
K&N puts something out and they say they don't need a tune and everyone is delighted!
Maybe we're just growing more open to these new fangled ideas!

Well, I think the issue still needs to be addressed. Does the CEL go off because something is designed wrong? ...or does it go off because of the sheer amount of air going into the engine? A lot of air could be a good thing, if you have it tuned properly.
I guess I will always wonder if I'm sacrificing a little air so the CEL doesn't go off.
no tune is required but would help. The unit i am testing for AFE was right on the edge and after 328 miles on a hot day going up a grade and punching it it triped the light. We reset the light and 3oo mile still no light. tuesday i took it in to them and they replaced the adapter size to speed up the air past the mas air sensor. it richened up the car. I have 100 miles on it so far at 500 ill take it back. theese guys know what they are doing some of them came from K&N. On the dyno it was right at the limit of what the computer could compinsate for, now its much more in. The GT model has been out for a while and needs no tune. My friend has one with over 1000 miles and no light. check them out afefilters.com. My car is on the site getting dynoed. also the filter is twice the size of the others. and about twice the airflow of the stock box! good luck Tom

Hahah, you could use a few more periods, bro. It's tough to follow your posts!
The AFE sounds pretty good, too. I like K&N because I've used them before with no problems. It sounds like the unit you're using, while good, is still going through some growing pains (hence the occasional CEL). I have a K&N in my Avalanche, so it'll be nice to use the same oil on both CAIs.
sorry for the lack of periods. sometimes i just ramble as far as the AFE unit goes i guess thats why they call it a PROTOTYPE. if you had not noticed this is the first one. also the owners of the CO came from K&N and the gt unit they have works fine.

Like I said, it definitely does seem like a good product. If I were to get it, I would just wait a while, though.

Heads up, it's now listed for $289 at Summit. I wrote them and complained that I was just about to purchase it when they changed the price on me. They e-mailed me an hour later saying they would honor the price if I called and talked to a sales rep before the 10th.
