Before you tear me a new one, hear me out. With the new popularity ofthese Shelby clones prices of Mustangs in general have gone crazy. People with car that dont have a straight or rust free panel on them think they have a gold mine. Also it seems to be the kids Who want to do this and dont realize the money and ability needed to pull it off sucessfully. This will result in more of these scarce cars getting cut up (ruined) because of some stupid movie.

I was once young and as stated in previous posts had much extra work undoing stupid things my cars previous owner did, but I only paid 300$ in 79 for my 67. There is a girl on this board with big plans for her 67coupe with a 6. My suggestion is buy a V8 car, an original big block car will be cheaper and more valuable than what you want to do. 400 horse Clevelands and 6 speed trannies sound great until you have to pay for them, then find a rear end and suspension and brakes too,see my point. You also will need to stiffen up the subframes or the body will twist.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy but know what you are getting into

Yes I have to agree, but The more they trash the more my car is worth. I plan on keeping my 67 fastback as close to stock other than a few mods to the motor and suspension. I show it in a stock class and don't want to move to the modified class.

yea stock is the only true way to go, who is truly gonna need any actual mods they put on there, if theyre looking for pure speed then they should mod a newer car instead of ruining classics

Stock Rules Mods Suck, and as the nice person I am if someone had a Classic Rice full of mods I will do them the favor of trading them my 66 6cyl C4 for it, it is so stock it still has only 1Bbl.

You dont have to be stuck in a powerhouse full of GUILT of how unstock your car is, no need to thank me, I am just that nice.

Doesn't sound like a bad thing if the value of stangs is going up.  Personally, I love Elanor, but in terms of classics, stock is the way to go.  You want fast, buy a new one and make it so, I like to savor what was truly american, not do it up with a bunch of bolt ons and take away from what was and still is amazing inginuity.

I've got to agree on this one. I keep my Stangs stock(up to and including my 170 6 cyl and "paper" 3 speed). Up here, a rusty shell goes for bucks, and now if it's a 67/68, the price goes up more 'cause most ads state "Will make an excellent Eleanor car, from the movie......" Anyone who wants this car, should realize it's 'gonna take BIG BUCKS to do the conversion, and it still won't be able to do what the movie car(s) did.
