well i know own a 05 gt, its an awesome car, i had a modded v6 and loved it, i will always repect the six. you all drive safetly and have fun, see you in my rear view mirrors
I came close to doing the same thing myself a few weeks back but decided to wait for a chance to order a Cobra next summer. Enjoy the new horsepower and I will see you in my rear view mirror next summer!
I'm going to be driving about 35 in the Cobra. I want everyone to see that it is me driving it. If I want to wind it up, I'll find a local track like don_w.
i actually dove faster in the v6, but this might sound stupid but all i wanted was about 260 to 300 actual hp to the rear wheel. So you wont believe this but to not get into trouble and start doing things i shouldnt do, i sould my sct, everything else wouldnt work on the v8 so i sold it as well antway. im happy bone stock
well i have to wait, but the good part is i just checked tyo see how much my insurance is going to go up and it will only increase 25 dollars a month and i turn 25 in a mionth and a have and then my renewel is up so it will drop even more. and i wont be speeding to much, shes yellow, and i stand out
Black Horse, I'm thinking seriously about trading my '05 V-6 for a '06 GT too. How did they treat you on the trade in? Also how much did the GT cost (if you don't mind me asking), ie. was it MSRP plus tax, title, etc? I still owe 20,000 on my car & I hope they will get real close to that on a trade. (8K miles, Premium, Spoiler Package, Added White Stripes). I would remove the CAI & headers before I trade it. When I bought my V-6 last November I got it for the beautiful body style & I thought the 4.0 was plenty fast. It is fast (my best is a 14.63 in quarter & 6.2 0 to 60), no matter what some may think, & I have outrun a few 5.0's & hung with a couple of 4.6's (I know not to jump on a 05 GT, Cobra, etc.). It's also put a few Civics & a Grand Prix in their place. But as I started adding stuff to my car I have been bitten by the performance bug & all I do is want more. I decided I am either going to Supercharge my 4.0 & change to 3.73 or 4.10's or get a new GT. There are plusses & minuses to each argument but I think the GT may be best for me. I still love my 4.0 though & I would love to have her as a 280 rwhp sleeper. I'm just a little worried about how the motor & rearend would stand up to supercharging.
ok this will be long, so bare with me. I bought in october and i love and loved it. having a mustang you start to want to go fast. so what i bought which was a buetiful car for only looks i began to want to go faster. so i got the sct, C.a.i. and true duals, headers and gears and hell yea i thought i was fast. yes i beat 5.0 s all the time and the sometimes 4.6, not any 05. i wou;ldnt be that stupid. So eventually i joined some mustang clubs. well 2 weeks ago, i was hanging with my friend from the club named jim. hes 58 years old and has a 02 GT. he has about 40 grand in performance and cosmetic mods and upgrades. well i let him drive mine and dog it out. then i drove his. after all that was done we talked and he said for a 4.0 it was impressive, but the honest truth is because its a v6, unless i do some major major mode and engine work, ill never have the power and feel of a true v8. his car was unbelievable, 0 to 60 in 2.9 sec. his car is dangerous. i dont want that much power but i got very sad becuase i realized he was right. the more i spent on my v6 the more money i wasted. IM not at all disrespecting the v6 im just saying depending on what you really want you need to have the correct engine and i now realize it is true. I miss my v6 but i know have stock what i could not have achieved with the v6. beleive me i went to the best mustang specialist in my town of jacksonville florida and they all said realisticly the most hp i could get would be 230 to 240 at the wheel and for the engine it would be dangerous. i dont know if they are correct only because its a newer engine but i got their point. I had 13 thousand miles on mine, no uprades and it was auto. i had engine uprades and body work done, gt fog lights and stuff but nothing they cared about. the v6 used with 10 to 13k miles is only worth about 17 to 18k i got them to give me 21k, i paid the 1 grand to make the difference and financed 30k for 5 years at 5% at 500 a month. kid of high but only a hundred dollars more than my v6 payment, and my insurance will go up 25 to 28 dollars a month for a few month until i turn 25 years of age. Its wort it if you are goint to do the things you want to do to the v6. after you spend all that money, which it will be lot. the truth is youll pull up to me in a stock 05 gt, and still get it handed to you.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like we have much in common. Like you I love my V-6 & would never diss it, but I think I need the GT. I'd hate to blow my motor trying to add 80HP with a blower. I guess I will try to get a 2006 since I probably can't find a 2005 GT in the color I want (grey). I like the 06 Titanium gray. My insurance will go from 790/year on the V-6 to 1000/year for a GT, so that's not a factor (and I think that's a fairly good price). Did you leave the headers, etc. on your car when you traded? I'll put the stock air box back on & sell the CAI but the headers will take a few hours to change out. Probably better to take them off & sell them though. I think my payment will be about 500 to 510 range so I won't be able to mod the GT. Maybe I can get stripes at least & I do still have the XCalibrator. Think I'll go shopping next week. I guess they'll order me a 2006 & then we will work out the trade in when it gets here. I just want the dealer to give me an idea of what he will offer on the trade so I can see if this is possible.
