hello just bought a new mustang. I picked it up at the dealership and did not even go home. I headed for Reno
any way 1st gear is a pain in the @ss there seems to be now free play in the clutch. Is this normal? I drive truck and there is always a little free play before the clutch starts to engage. From a stop, you'll start to let off the clutch and if you are not right on the gas it will kill it. I have been reving it to about 1500 to get it to take off smooth.
also any one know of a good short throw shifter kit out there?

mine seems to disengage right away at least i think..i just usually push it down and not really pay attention to disengagement point..id have to really check ..there is bound to be some play since that is how you let it slip if you need to which is bad to do all the time of course

I think the clutch action is at least as good as on any other manual transmission car that I've ever owned. I like the shifter too, but it's not quite as good as the best I've owned, but still very good.
What bugs me is the engine staying at about 1500 rpms when I let off of the gas pedal, for up to five seconds or so before dropping under 1000. I assume I'll eventually get used to that, or maybe Ford will come out with a firmware update someday to change it.
