should i remove the stripe? im getting some paint work done thanks to a blind rentacar owner who crunched my front drivers side fender in a parking lot. long story but in the end i am gonna have the stripes removed for painting and im wondering if any v6ers think leaving the stripes off is a good move. i only noticed one vert who seemed to do this...
i took mine off first week. use a single edge razorblade to very carefully raise a corner on each piece.then pull the stripe back at 180 degree angle on itself to pull right off. it work best if the car has sat in the sun for a while. i then painted the black lower body panels the color of my body, satin silver. great effect.
I vote for you to take them off. To me they just muck up the looks of the Mustan'gs perfection . When I was looking to buy I was upset to see that the spoiler was alwys sold with that stripe. In the end I got a black one without the spoiler (or stripe) - it looks so much better than those with a stripe. And I'm not sure I'll add the spoiler - it just looks so good right now

i don't think the stripes completely mimic the older stripes, but i didn't like them then. i know it's a mustang so why have mustang there. i like that without the stripes, the car doesn't say mustang anywhere except the door entrys. i removed my spoiler, there was not a spoiler on the 65-66s. the louvers in the headlight buckets are very 65-66ish.
whoa am i gonna get discoloration under there? i dunno if i like the idea of that.
Possibly... but if you're having paint work done you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The dealer pulled my stripes off for free when I bought the car... didn't trust myself with a hairdryer and a razorblade.
I pulled mine off after about a month. I am thinking about getting something different to replace them. As far as discoloration, you shouldn't have any problem. The only thing I noticed was when I was waxing the car. When I applied the wax, the lettering began to appear. But after a little rubbing, it all went away. I suppose it was left over residue. If I don't replace them with anything, I still like it better this way.

One other thing. You really should look out for those blind drivers. They are usually pretty easy to identify because of their canes sticking out of the window as they try to feel their way around

I'm a fan of no stripes at all. I made the dealer peel the side stickers off before I picked mine up. I even peeled the Dale Jarrett Ford sticker off the trunk when I got it home. I am going for the total stelth look, a F-117 Nighthawk kinda thing. To each his own though.
I debated taking my stripes off when I first got my car, but they grew on me. I feel that with my black paint the white stripes really offset the rest of the car and give it a little extra. That's just my input though, I can definetly see the reason some like the car without them. It's all personal preference.

When my car got keyed & had to be re-painted, they had to remove the stripes anyway. I got ones I liked better and just paid the difference- the ins co had to pay for the stock ones anyway and they had to pay the labor to put them on. Everything worked out for the best.

You won't have ghost lines. Your car is brand new man, you'll be fine. Just wash and wax it after taking them off and you'll be fine. I took mine off my 2000 about 3 months ago and I had no discoloration. You can't even tell they were there.
