Hello guys, first post here.

I have a question about removing the timing chain cover on my Stang. I found today I have a small antifreeze leak coming from the water passage between the block and timing chain cover. Now I was reading my manual(Haynes), and it says I have to remove my oil pan before I can take the cover off. I looked and I can't see why I would have to do it? Anybody out there, can you tell me FROM EXPERIENCE whether you actually have to remove the oil pan or not? BTW, my Stang is a 1986 with a 3.8L V6, throttle body injection. Thanks in advance!
