Just saw the post about the GT and their burnouts. Anyone able to do so in a V6? I just thought I'd ask.

I can (you know, but a little bleach on the concrete and brake torque it)

Seriously, anyone able to add enough hp to do a burnout in the V6?

(GT'ers.. don't make fun of us over here. We just want to be like our big brothers...)

Yeah - it's quite easy. In fact that was the biggest reason to go to bigger tires. I was getting so frustrated that every time I launched moderately hard from a light I spun my tires into the intersection. I don't like attracting that much attention... since I put 285's on it hooks up very well. I can still spin those, though.

I saw that thread too and was tempted to find an empty parking lot somehwere to see if I could smoke up (the tires, that is)

MustangBuddha,

Really? I couldn't tell if you had a manual/auto? Any mods?

I can't do it. Every time I punch it (even without TC on), it just takes off with great acceleration. I've got the throttle delay that everyone notes (no tunes loaded). I was just curious if anyone was able to punch it from a dead stop and have it burn-out. I've tried a couple of times in an empty parking lot. Just not enough hp/low end torque to do it with the v6/auto. Even when I brake torque it. At least on my car..

Anyone else?

In the manual, its hard not to spin them a little every time.

DanteMo, Yeah - I didn't think it would do it until it happened one day. I have the manuel 5sp, so as I waited to turn left on a busy 6-lane I was anticipating a whole in traffic, bumping the throttle - probably bumped it up to about 2500 when my chance came. I floored it and feathered in the clutch, trying to keep RPMs at 2500 to 3000. Next thing I know my tires are compaining loudly and I'm sliding sideways into the left center lane trailing smoke - it was a great Bullitt move! After I went home and changed my pants I went out to try it again (on a deserted street), thinking it must have been a fluke. Nope - I could do it every time - straightline or turning, it didn't matter. I don't have any power mods yet; I've got two GT mufflers "in the mail" and I'm really anxious to get a CAI and a tune as well. This thing is a blast - V6 or not.

6 Lane left turn... Man oh man..

The exhaust and cai will hopefully make it sound/perform even better!!

Anycar will burn out. You just have to know how to make it do it. My '99 v6 would burn out...

Yeah, in reading what others have said about the tune alone I'm really anxious to give these things a try. I'm hoping my muffs get here soon... They came out of their box in transit and I've been working w/the freight company to find them. The driver's side muffler made here last Friday (a week late) and supposedly the other one is on it's way.
I was contemplating making my own CAI, but was having trouble getting specs. Then I saw that one that afixer posted (New CAI for the V6 (no tune required)) and it's pretty close to what I was thinking of, so I may wait for it to be released. Much fun!

I hear ya - and I do agree to an extent. If I tried hard enough I could make my 1.6L '77 Chevette "burnout" on demand, and get a second gear scratch to boot. (haha!)

It's easy to burn out in a manual.... no matter what the engine. I did a 10 second burn out at a light since my little boy was with mom, following me back from the dealer. He loved it. :)

Seriously, though. Don't do it often, or you'll prematurely wear your tires.
