I recently purchased a 35th anniversary GT Convertible, performance red, and manual transmission.  I have a few mods; coldair, 3.73 gears, flowmaster, and subframe connectors.

I'm having trouble with my transmission though...

I think it's my throwout bearing.  Since it's gotten colder it's gotten worse.  Whenever I go to shift it wants to stick in or not come out of gear.  In addition, at times I have to double clutch to get it in reverse.

Any suggestions?

I'm already planning on replacing the clutch, throwout bearing, and putting in a short throw shifter...should this take care of my problems?

Thanks.

5th to reverse should eliminate the grind.

Hi ! You got yourself a nice Stang.. Also remember to change your clutch cable and modify it with a new quadrant. Disconnect the cable and check for bindings first. Check the transmission oil level and type. THIS Fixed my problems....But the 5th to reverse is fine,still..

Thanks for the advice guys.  The reason I am contemplating changing everything out is because the car has almost 75000 miles on it and never had the clutch replaced.  I'm not sure how easy the previous owner was on the gears...

I want a fresh start plus I am in much need of a shorter throw.

In addition, the clutch pedal comes out higher than the brake pedal.  Why?  What can I do to make the action shorter.

Thanks

... new quadrant assembly, and the clutch cable firewall adjuster. The wire is a bit longer and some mechanical changes in the clutch system gives you a higher pedal...
