it's a heck of a lot lighter pedal than my 1970 429 cobra. LOL. took a bit to get used to. shifts much better than my 94 GT did before i added a hurst shifter (to 94 GT). i'm pleased.

yah i like it..do you think the pedal has to much travel before it engages? i think it could have been a little less than it has but that is my opinion

Chris,

I'm in my test driving phase right now. I'm a pretty good stick driver, but the Mustang gave me a few fits. I really do think it's due to the "FLY-BY WIRE" throttle and the lag with that throttle. Once she's underway, it's fine. The V-6 I drove seemed to have some whine in the syncos, and this MAY go away as miles get added.

As much as I liked the Stick, I'll probably go automatic because I'll be keeping this for a number of years, and a certain young Grand Son will be learning to drive this car.

Chris

option81 the trans can probably take it.just dont ride teh clutch to much and make sure you push the clutch pedal to the floor..how many miles you have on it? oh and dont stall haha...i stalled occasionally when i first got it but not anymore

I also found the clutch to be touchy when new. Second gear was really hard to engage under power when new. Now with 5000+ miles on it the shifter works much better and I'm use to the clutch. Someone mentioned that the clutch seemed to release fairly high in it's travel. Mine releases fairly low. The traction control would cause some embarrasing moments when trying to get into traffic. I started shutting it off on the first day. The computer can not be changed to allow the TC to be off and selected when wanted.

All in all, this Stang is a very enjoyable car. Good performance, great gas mileage and for me, very comfortable.

I'm starting to get used to it, does seem to have alot of pedal travel, but I am coming from a Civic 5 speed so this is a whole different animal. I do get a lot of noise in first gear, like when I'm just idling through heavy traffic. Is that the bearing rattling you are talking about? When I'm rowing through the gears with no traffic in front of me I think it has a real nice feel though.

for me the stick is fine, its still new (under 1000) so the shifter is still stiff, but that should break in. There is a bit of travel with the clutch as well, but nothing too bad. One somewhat annoying thing is putting it into 1st when coming to a stop sign or something you can hear a bit of a whine in the tranny, other than that I love driving stick, way better than auto.

It seems loud to me. I like how it shifts, third seems to be my hard gear to get into. First gear is very touchy but alot of torque.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that has has some trouble with the trans. When we first got the car, I killed it a couple of times. How embarrasing!! I too feel mine has too much free travel but am getting used to it. I've only got 1100 miles on it so hopefully it will break in some more. I still love the car. Jim

i've probably stalled bout 70 times on it and i'm not exaggerating. i have about 700kms on it. i do hear whinning noise when braking at 60km/hr without gearing down and when using engine brake it's not present.

friction point on the clutch is about halfway from disengaged position.

5200 rpm on 2nd. **** i've never rev mine that high, but i will someday when i master shifting. i'm still slow on take-off. practice, practice, practice...

third is a hard gear to get into? i dont have any problem with mine...shifting overall is good...option81 stalling 70 times is alot..sounds like not enough gas and letting the clutch out to fast...how are you at downshifting? stalling wont really hurt anything in the long run just wear out your starter faster probably

Overall, I like the clutch and the shifter... however, I have fits changing from 1st to 2nd if the RPMs are over 4000. It simply doesn't want to fall into 2nd.

Is this normal?
