i dont know about 100 hp at all

why would ford build a new engine just to change it the next year?

i would expect the same 300 if not then a 325 or something like that

I think it will stay the same. Look at it when the 94's came out there was only like a 5 hp increase over the five years that body style was out. Same when the '99s came out, no drastic increases for the GT over the years.

I think he is right, Maybe not 100 but sure nothing less then 35hp, with the new dodge chargers out for msrp around 26g's with what 345 hp and the 07 camaro rumors. Ford has to have something up there sleeve. To stay in the hp race!!

What kinda drugs are you on, hehe.....they are almost certain to keep it at 300HP until sales start to slip - this I would expect to happen around 2007 or so!

the '06 is exactly the same car as the '05 with the exception of a couple of color changes and different rims.

expect to see something a little extra for '07.

If you want to predict the future, look to the past for a referance. Any major increase in Hp in this decade won't come on the base model, it will come on a Mach 1 or some upgrade.(read $$$) . The base model may see a few extra ponys down the road, but nothing major. I expect Ford to release new packages over time, probably a blown 4.6,(to keep fuel economy for the Corp average) but it might get a few more cubes, like 5.0 and stay normally asperated if the fuel economy is there. That is my guess and I am sticking to it!!

mabye this guy was just thinking of the 07 svt, or some other special edition mustang. Either way Id say this idea was pulled outta thin air. Or mabye MustangGT3420 is a representive hired to leak fords secrets to create a buzz among mustang owners, but I seriously doubt it. What a schmuck![sm=shutup.gif]

[sm=exactly.gif] The LIGHTEST charger is the V6 coming in at 3800lbs....v. the GT's 3450lbs.(3500 for AOD) Plus that V6 model has only 250 of both TQ and HP. The Daytona R/T (fastest trim line) is 4031 (2 ****IN TONS!). Think about it tho guys the hp to weight ratio in both the 05 GT and the 05 charger is the SAME...the torque to weight ratio in the 05 charger is 10.7 and in the 05 is closer to 10.8. Now I am defenitely not a mopar guy I am simply stating a fact that charger should not be underestimated...we should thank our lucky stars it wasnt a coupe or it would kick the **** out of a mustang. However i'd take a mustang over a charger any day SO MUCH MORE POTENTIAL and you get more respect in the coupe then in the sedan.

Now I was pretty pissed that dodge made the charger a sedan but i dont place all the blame on them. It's these god damn consumers who want bitch fast cars....to take the family of four on road trips with.

guys

100 hp is not true at all. why do u think after add a new engine in 05 mustang and start all over with a new one in a year? they are going to add something called pony option where they can add mini fog lamps for v6 and so forth (by the way is horrible) and adding 18" rims for gt.

it might have alittle more hp in 07, tovcompete with the gto or something.

take some weight off the car at least 100 lbs, and keep the same hp rating.

Evolutionary, not revolutionary.

The 06 GT has 300hp (as will the 07 and the 08 and probably the 09).

In 07 you can buy the 500hp Shelby GT500.

In 08 they'll add a Boss (probably with 5.4 na at 400hp, and probably called a SVT product), with a Bullit variant to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie.

In 09 they'll finally add the Mach 1 (dohc at about 375hp) to round out the line, just in time for the major redesign in 2010 (if this scenario sounds like what they did 99-2004, you're right, except now we don't have the maverick SVT group making things as interesting anymore - hence no SVT Cobra - though some will be confused by the use of SVT badges on the Shelby).

Look for Dodge to hammer Ford with their Hemis, including several coupe designs (2007 Challenger derived from the Charger is a good bet, and they'll have a Chrysler version as well - probably 2008 replacement for the Crossfire being phased out in 2009).

Look for GM to finally get the GTO off the dime (new styling this year is down payment on this), and come up with variant off of another platform-yet-to-be-named for the new Camaro and Firebird pony cars (marketing space is tight, but they really don't have much choice here) in 2008. This is a year behind where they should be, but that's the current GM for you - years late and billions of dollars short.

ford never competed in the hp ratings, they would usually build lighter, cheaper cars..
