This post is not meant to start a bashing war, but i was just wondering...why get a V-6 mustang and then dress it up to look like a GT? Why not just get the GT since it will probably cost alot to dress the car up. i dont know and i am just wondering...i dont want to start one of those stupid arguments on this thing. to each his own, as long as you are happy with your car, that's awesome. but for any of you looking to dress up your wheels to look GT, i'll be selling my Stock GT Bullit wheels shortly. they will have virtually no miles on them. Email me with an offer if you are interested. Lata and enjoy the drive
Insurance, gas mileage, and probably most importantly availability. Many who have ordered GT's waited months. This is my first mustang, and it amazes me how much aftermarket stuff is available. You can have it customized the way you want it. Some folks probably do only care about making it "look" like a GT, but most I've seen that want customized fog lights, engine mods and the like is because they enjoy it, sort of like a hobby.

tru...as long as you like your car. you are right on the wait though, thank god i knew the dealer and he was a high volume dealer in southern california or i'd never be seeing my new baby. enjoy your pony, i'll be enjoying mine as soon as i get her next week.

Depends on how much you want to "dress up the car". Upgrading to a new grill, tires/rims and duel exhast is much cheaper than spending another $7 grand for a GT.
JROd, I am one who owns a V6 and does not want to dress it up to look like a GT. I thought about putting the GT Grill in and putting the GT rims on but, I felt like that a GT is a GT and just dressing up a V6 cosmetically does not make it a GT, the engine and the GT performance parts makes it a GT. I totally respect the GT as it is, a bad machine. My feeling is dressing up a V6 to look like one insults the lucky ones that get to own a GT. I got a V6 for various reasons, and I am thoroughly impressed and will always bow down to the GT. I did though have an older Gt drive by me on the highway, yelled at me "why didnt I buy a GT?" and flicked a Cigarette butt on my hood. But, I know all GT'ers arent like that.
MUSTANG...the only remaining AMERICAN MUscle Car!!
sorry that dude had to be such a duesch. you should have done what some motorcycle drivers do...sped up, pulled infront of him and thrown a penny out of your vert and let it smash on his hood. that would teach him :) what a prick. or you could have followed him until he parked his car and then kicked his mirror in

I hope that butt didn't damage that awesome looking machine!

The only thing I have done to my V6 that is V8-like is to add the duals. I respect the V8 folks but the grill is a little too busy for me. I even replaced the stock V6 grill with a plain billet grill. I think it is just a fact of nature that some of the V8 drivers make fun of the V6 drivers. It does not bother me since the Cobra drivers make way more fun of the V8 drivers than they do of us. We should all be proud to drive the Mustang in any configuration!
==why get a V-6 mustang and then dress it up to look like a GT?==
I just think it's really humorous that GT owners think it is OK for GT owners to modify their cars, but if someone with a V6 upgrades their wheels or adds a CAI they all cry "Why didn't you get a GT??" Why do you think GT owners can corner the market on modifications? Let me make this argument to you GT owners, why did you buy a Mustang GT and "waste" so much money modifying it when you could buy a supercharged Saleen which in stock trim is MUCH faster? Why did you settle for just a GT? Hopefully you see the nonsense in this question, and that helps you to see the nonsense in your own. People have posted different personal reasons for buying a six over a GT whether it be cost, insurance, availability, design preference, gas mileage, etc. What they do with it after they have it is THEIR BUSINESS. Perhaps they like Bullitt rims, I say go for it! Maybe they like those grille fog lamps, I say rock on! It's your car, I'd rather see you modify it than leave it stock, that is what America is all about!
By the way, I have yet to see someone try to make a V6 look --exactly-- like a GT. I have not seen a single person put GT emblems on a six. Adding Bullitts and fog lights to a six does not mean that person is trying to make their car into a GT.

Oohhh, ooh, ohh... I can answer that one!! Because, I personally don't care for the 2005 Saleen body kit!! (But I am putting a Saleen S/C on mine).
Hey Tres... the original question was legitimate, "why get a V-6 mustang and then dress it up to look like a GT"... I don't think he had any malice intended. You said it yourself... we all have our reasons... maybe he just was curious.
Borrowing styling cues from other models, eras, etc, is part of the beauty of this hobby of ours. Personally, I like the 1969 Mach 1's the best. I intend to incorporate some of those features into mine (like a shaker scoop, chin spoiler, etc.). Sure, I could go buy a "real" 69 Mach 1... but, it wouldn't be a good daily driver for me, either. My 2005 Stang is my daily driver.
Bottom line... to each his own... V8 or V6, manual or auto, Legend Lime or Sonic Blue... whatever works!!! (as long as you don't rice it up... maybe we can all agree on that one!)

well, i have to agree with Don here, please don't rice up a Mustang. if you want to do that, buy a civic and put one of those 15 inch exhausts on it and make it sound like a rocket. as for my question...i was just curious, that's all. i'm not going to throw a cigarette butt at a V-6 and i'm not going to sit at the line and rev my engine and try and race you on the green...i'm not going to do that to older Cobras either. I bought the GT becaues i wanted the extra power (going into the marine corps to be a pilot, need a faster sports car). It looked to me that i saw people trying to dress up the V-6 to look like a GT and was just curious as to why not buy the GT, but my question has been answered (thanks you to you dudes). MOD your car all you want, that's why i like this car so much because there is so much you can do to it to set it apart from another mustang sitting right next to you at a stop light. Time for me to get back in bed, the stupid ass Coast Guard has been rough with these damn License exams, 4 down 3 to go. If anyone knows anything about Deck License exams for the US Coast Guard, i've had Nav Law, Deck General, Navigation General, and Deck Safety thus far...Nav Gen and Deck Safety are going to cut it close. have the Chart and Terrestial exams tomorrow and then on friday morning, celestial navigation. ALMOST DONE and almost home to my new MUSTANG. (If i pass all the exams)...cross your fingers!!!
and Don...i'll have plenty of pictures to upload once i get my car...i'll probably upload the pictures around the 15th of June.

I simply enjoy working on the car, and would rather spend the $5-7K GT price difference over the next few years at my own pace. I also know I'll have a distincitive car when it is all done.
