I think i may have been swindled into buying an overprived 72 fastback mustang advertised as a Mach 1. I would really apriciate it if anyone could tell me what i can look for to determine weathere it is the real thing.

P.S. I had ford run the vin and they said that it was but my mechanic who is really into mustangs said that he has never seen a mach 1 with a 2 barrel carb and that he has never seen one without all the guages. oh and another question that i had is can i find the vin on the engine.

Thank you to all posters

Wes

After 71, I think you could even get a 302 2v in the Mach 1. I have my little book in front of me, 63"R" is the body style code for '73 Mach 1. That is if the decal is still legible.

I agree with that the rear window is also a real bear to see thru do to the harsh angle.
