i had dynomax ultraflow's with 2.25 inch pipe and i hated the way it sounded, so quite. now i got the american thunder kit and with the cam and motor being built it sounds pretty close to a big block.

I'd say Flowmasters.......I had 1 3/4" headers with 3" Flowmasters and loved it!

A while back I flowbenched a bunch of mufflers and Dynomax flowed best next was a cherrybomb.  These two actually improoved the flow.  Everything else I tested was at least a little restrictive.  Dynomax 120% Cherrybomb 108%  Flowmaster 92% Napa 68%  Thats all I remember off the top of my head.  I didn't test Spintech and I have heard good things about them, but I dont know for sure.

the way i see it, you don't get mufflers for performance...you get em' for the awesome sound a mustang can make with them.

dynomax bullets way more horse than weak street mufflers like flowmasters, cause they are straight mufflers- no restriction.

Well I know dynomax are better for power gains, but I got Flowmaster myself for the sound and street application, not too worried about a little power loss!!! I LOVE the sound  She sound ssssssoooooo mean!!!!.  I have BBK Long tube headers, with the BBK off road X-Pipe and the American Thunder Flowmaster System.  If it is for street application I'd go for the sound!!!!! A Mustang is not a Mustang without Flowmasters!!!! My dad heard mine and now he wants the same application for his `66 Stang

the few hp difference isnt going to make a difference so pick the muffer for the sound. they all make power from stock.

so your going to beat me in a race cause you have bullets and i have flowmasters
please

My 89 Lx Coupe has a 331 stroker and off the stroker i have equal length shorty headers, going down into 3 inch pipe and no mufflers it goes back and right before the rear axle theres 45 degree angled dumps.ITS INSANE your neighbors may not like you afterwards but F**K'EM.It sounds great.Theres not a muffler out that will sound better than open headers and dumps thats of course if you are looking for that or are not hounded by smog hogs which im not.

Not that im aware of.It has a heavy rumble at idle and then sounds like a funny car when im on it.Its able to be heard well over 2 blocks away. But no i dont feel as though it lost anything by having open headers.I had full length 2.5 all the way back but scrapped it and went for the open headers and 3 inch tubing.

Less restriction=more horsepower.

I dont understand some of this stuff.I hear "its not a muffler its a straight through design so no restriction" well then whats the point? Why not just run no mufflers and save that money?Of course some places the smog hogs make you but if i dont have to im not going to run any restrictive mufflers and yes all mufflers restrict to a point.
