I wasn't comparing Imports to Mustangs.  I just mearly stating that back pressure is good.  Don't tell me you can't burn valves on an import either.  I've done it. Had to put the cat's back on to alieveate the problem.  I'll run how I want and you'll run how you want.  But don't misinform people with your personal beliefs.

Backpressure is horrible for your motor, both with torque AND horsepower production. Besides, I don't get you people and your focus on torque torque torque CONSTANTLY. The only time this would even CLOSELY come into factor is in loooow RPM's...and who races there!?!?!?

actually torque is very important in any racing. in road racing it is what pulls you out of the corner to get the maximum speed going down the straight. in drag racing you need a lot of torque to get a great launch and get up the your higher rpms and torque is what gets your 60 ft times down. without torque your car is useless!!!

Drag radials/slicks create traction, any car rated over 200rwtq can run a 1.6 60 foot time.

This is why 383 engines aren't that popular at the strip anymore. They are torque monsters yet fall off significantly at upper RPMS with HP...this would also be why so many people favor building 358's and 377's.

You want respectable torque and superior traction & unreal HP at the track.

And let me add, as far as road racing...this is why you have a rear differential that is capable of having it's gears changed.

I don't need lectures about torque vs. horsepower. However, I think that you need to do some research on the whole backpressure/torque topic.

The only time that this is helpful is in the looooow RPMs, and nobody races there anyway. Imagine racing and shifting at 1000 RPM's in a gas V8....see my point?

Your argument is futile, null, and therefore void in the backpressure topic.

Well not to cut down hondas but the reason they are so slow is TORQUE..they have like 24lbs of torque at the fly wheel......mabe have 160hp but without good torque its usless....i used to own a 88 z24 with 160hp and 190 torque...raced many hondas with more hp and less weight but because they didnt have the torque to get out of the hole i would be 3 cars by 2nd gear...you need torque to get the car movin.....no hard feelings on the hondas just en example...

I know you need torque dude.

My argument is that backpressure only helps in the god damned low as s**t screw your sister and call it a night RPM's!!!!

Think about it logically for a second. The key to making power and torque is to burn more fuel/air more effeicently. You don't do that by CHOKING THE MOTOR! IT'S CALLED BACKPRESSURE FOR A REASON!!!

YAH WE COULD ARGUE ABOUT IT ALL DAY LONG......EITHER WAY WE ALL KNOW YOU NEED SOME TORQUE......IF YOU WANT A TORQUEY MOTOR THEN BUILD A MOTOR YOU DONT REV OVER 5000RPM...IF YOU WANT HP THEN BUILD A MOTOR THAT DOESNT TURN ON TILL 4000RPM AND PULLES TO 7500RPM... ALL IN WHAT YOU WANT.....

Dude....the only thing RPM's has to do with power production is that HP is equal to Torque at 5252 RPM.....

YAH I KNOW....WHEN YOU GET DOWN  TO IT ALL YOU NEED FOR EXHAUST IS TO RUN CHALK OR CRAYON DOWN THE PIPE AND GO FOR 1 RUN...WHERE IT STOPS MELTING THAT IS WHERE YOU CUT IT OFF.....THATS ALL YOU NEED...THEN YOU ARENT CHOKIN THE MOTOR AT ALLL AND IT BREATHES FINE.....

I had a flowmaster, it wasn't loud enough for me, so I went with a MAC exhaust, flowmaster would be drowned out by a MAC.

I have dynomax and it sounds good, its not always loud only when you gun it so its good if you wanna throw on some headers or an offroad x-pipe.  I'm thinking of getting flowmasters though only because i'm all about sound and don't care to much of performance from an exhaust but flowmaster has a new cat back system that helps performance wise.  I'd say if its loud get it cuz thats what you want sound otherwise you wouldn't be changing it.
