Default Fixes yet?

Has anyone heard from Saleen or their dealer if there is a fix for the exhaust rattle or the warping headrest inserts? I don't want to replace my inserts with others just like them as I'm pretty sure that they would warp too - based on the fact that almost every other '05 S281 owner has complained of the same problem.

I have had mine into the dealer (about 2 weeks ago) for both of these matters. Apparently, Saleen is aware of the problem and wil be providing "parts" to fix the problem with the exhaust system. The headrest inserts will be replaced with non-warping inserts. I was told these "parts" would be available in a few weeks. I spoke with the Ford service department yesterday and there is nothing available yet. I have tried to e-mail Saleen (x2) to get a description of the problem and ETA on the fix and they have not responded.

Apparently Saleen doesn't believe in returning emails OR phone calls. I have tried numerous times both ways. Its puzzling though because I see people posting here that they talked to them. I wouldn't think calling a manufacuturer like Saleen would be like trying to get through to a major radio station [>:]

If ANYBODY has any luck getting through to them or gets a return call - could you please ask them when 2005 S281 production will end and what the total number of N/A's, SC's and E's is respectively.

Thanks for the updates. I'll go ahead and put a BUG in my dealer's ears so that he's aware that I have both problems and to be looking out for solutions

I was talking to my dealer today, because my car still has not arrived. He said the reason was because Saleen was fixing the problems on the cars in production. He said they had to change a design within the hood because of it moving too much, also commented about a fix for the exhaust.

About August.

When it is done, then you can contact Liz to get a LOA which will tell you all about your car, and a bit about the production run for the year. You can do this some time around September.

Sorry all. Everyone who is new to Saleen here, and by that I mean within the last few years it's nothing new that you cannot get a return call, e-mail etc. That's the breaks with Saleen. Has been that way from the start. I purchased my first Saleen 14 years ago. NO dealer on the face of the planet can do anything about it either. Just have to deal with it.
I know those of you with 05's are frustrated but with any first year run production you have Saleen issues on top of Ford issues. Same happened in 94 and in 99. You will purchase a car, have no problems and be happy, or have multiple problems with slow service, fixes and never purchase a Saleen again. Sorry to be a downer but I think all of the newbies should know what to expect. Saleen, love em or leave em.

Just an update for you all on the 2005 Exhaust and Headrest issues. I FINALLY talked to somebody at Saleen today and she told me the fixes are out for both exhaust rattle and the headrests. She said some cars will new inserts, and some will get entire new headrests - I guess based on severity. I asked if the dump valves could just be removed with no ramifications and she pointed me to techline, of which I am still waiting for an answer.

So I guess the bottom line is, if you haven't already - take it to your dealer to get the process rolling to get the issues fixed
