I'm a little suprised I haven't heard anyone talking about this yet.... but I've seen a lot of people with other new vehicles design and install their own single or twin turbo setups well before anything like it ever hits the market.

Obviously, it'd be easier to do than creating your own supercharger.

Does anyone have experience in this realm? I'm a great mechanic, but I've never messed with turbos. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to find a pair of turbos from an older vehicle, an intercooler and install all the appropriate piping.

Iunno, but I'm gonna try it out myself before too long...

Didn't really wanna bring up the topic (as to avoid the 'why didn't you just get a GT' complaint)

But, what I'm thinking now, is changing my stock headers out with the JBA's for now, and then cutting/welding/whatever it takes a setup so I can hook turbo's up to the stock headers... I might just get another set of stock headers to attempt this. Not sure yet (I'd like to keep everything original on the car that I can, so if I ever want to take it back to stock, it's possible).

I'd like forged internals before any real pressure, so my big decision right now, is do I go for a little pressure (under 9 PSI) or do I replace the internals first, and then setup a high PSI turbo... decisions decisions...

There's a few other things I have planned first (gears, dual exhaust, trak-lok, dyno tune) but those are right around the corner (just waiting for my backordered trak-lok to arrive), and I'm starting to look at what my next project will be... a twin turbo setup sounds pretty nice.

The reason I'm asking, is because obviously I'd have to plan many of the other things around the turbo such as intake, throttle body, exhaust, etc.... I wonder how plausible it is.

I'm not sure how much I'd want to get into the internals. I'd probably keep the pressure low enough to keep the internals stock. A good intercooler would be nice, though....

If you're planning on low boost (and this is from what I've read, not what I *know*) you should be able to keep most everything stock.

You might want to port your intake, perhaps a bigger TB if you can find one...

It's definitely very plausible... granted I'm nowhere near the expert...

Also, I've had a lot better luck getting my turbo/super questions answered in the Pipes, Boost & Juice sections of the forum...

Cool. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to get off my ass and do something to this car. ;)

Currently I have a twin turbo production kit in the works but it will be for the v8. And will not doubt require a new bottom end on the engine.
R&D is schedule for june-august and then the prototype should be good for woodward cruise.
I can't see many people moving forward with a turbo kit for a v6. just to cost prohibitive. Vortech has a SC coming out or is out right now for teh v6. That would be more beneficial for the V6 people.
