Default 2.3L with a 8.8 rear end?

im going to be converting my 2.3L mustang over to a 5.0L once i get a engine. i already have a t-5 tranny, driveshaft, and 8.8 rear end from a 86 GT. now my question since my mustang is my only car, and i cant go too long without a car, is it possible to drive a 2.3L with a 8.8 rear end? will i need to change the driveshaft then as well or is that a transmission related issue?
