The kid is dumb for doing that first of all, secound most trackers are innaccurate over 120, they don't need to be able to read you faster because if you are doing that in any area, you have a high chance of losing your license right there, let alone in the 45. I wouldn't even do that unless you can go 170 for sure and are really quick, least that way you have hope of out running him

my 94 gt had a calibrated spedo, 3:73s, the spedo gear, headers, catback(still had cats) and a K&N drop in and it'd do a lil over 140.....5th gear though is like driving a honda waiting for it to get up to speed

So if he was doing 140 in a 45 then how did the Cop catch him? He must have slowed way way down to allow the Cop to catch him.

^ that is what i was wondering. this reminds me of a story that a kid told me. he said he and his friend were doing 180mph(forgot the car) and were pulled over by a cop. now if you are doing 180 and go by a cop just keep going. he isn't going to catch you anytime soon and definitely didn't see the plates. sounds fishy but i think it may be possible for the car to do 140.

I don't buy the story but the car could, theoretically do 140 but it would take a hell of a run to get there.

It will do it. Mine did.

P.S. If the kid still has the car in his possesion and still has a drivers license then you can almost put your life on it that he is lying.

I've went over 145+ easily in a stock 4 banger eclipse so it should be no problem. He is still probaly full of it though as he'd be telling you from a jail cell.

I don't see how you could run 140+ in a stock eclipse seeing as how the speed limiter is set at 135? My turbo eclipse hits 135 and shuts down.

im with you there..if you get pulled over at 140 first your stupid for slowing down..i mean please if you stop you really think the cop is going to let you go cuse you had the respect enough to stop for him? LMAO umm yer going to jail because anything over 100mph is a felony from what i understand...so i spell poop...the car will do it no doubt..but it could need a ecu flash depending on the model i dono what the limits are i know people talk about 147 being a limit to somthing like either an o4 gt or an o4 mach1...but i hear diffrent things from diffrent people..in any case theres another factor and that is being over looked here, that over a certin speed cops WONT chase after you its a public safety thing at least thats what im told about ny.. that over like 150 or somthing like that they wont chase after you because 1 their cars wont keep up that fast and 2 it turns into a public issue of saftey being more then one car is traveling at that rate of speed poses twice the danger regardless if the cop is trained in highspeed persut or not. Again in a case like this being the speed is 45 i think the guy said i would deffinatly call bs...because if its 45 there is a reason...maybe alot of bends and turns...i mean i would beleve the guy was going that fast if he said it was on the highway...but in a 45...doubt it...on a road with that speed limit posted chances are theres a couple nice nasty turns and at 140 you are more then likely going to find yourself real up close and personal with a tree or three.
