Default Humvee specs

So I was watching generation kill and I got to wondering, what do those hummers have in them? Well I googled it and apparently theyve got a GM 6.5 liter V8 diesel that makes 215 hp and 440 torque.
And it makes all that torque at 1800 rpms. Can you say throttle response?!

It does seem a tad bit underpowered though, like they should have given it a turbo or something.

Anybody ever drive a hummer? Not the h2 or h3 but aREAL hummer.

the REAL Hummer's have a much better diesel than the 6.5 TD. the military spec one's use either the Duramax or the Cummins B series 4 banger.

iirc it's a 4.0L inline 4 with a single turbo, 190hp and 490ft/lbs all the way from 1580rpm to redline (3400rpm)

sorry for the double post but i can't edit my posts[&:]

i have a 04 Duramax and they don't have the best throttle response, but they do move quite well for being 7000+lbs

That powerstoke vs HUMVEE pull off was the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title.

My cousin has one but I don't know what size engine it has. He plans on putting a newer diesel in next year for the wider part selection, better hp/tq ratings, and more mpg. he is getting 12mpg no matter how hard or soft he is with the gas pedal. That thing is freakin' awesome!!!! It's like a huge version of a Jeep Wrangler with a tire inflation system.

Had friends who've owned H2 and H2 SUTs.... they're ok, especially when they were new. A friend bought an SUT, had it two toned black and orange, and had custom Harley H2 SUT emblems made, Harley seats, the whole nine yards. It was awesome just because of the wow factor. On the other hand, they do not compare to the H1. And one day, I'll be draggin my Saleen on a trailer pulled by an H1 Alpha Open Top.
