I've got an '87 Mustang 5.0 LX, and i find that when i'm in gear a noise starts coming from what seems to be around the guage area (like around the speedometer) and it "winds up" as i start moving and stays on making a "whirling noise" and then "winds down" to a stop when i slow down and stop. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

it's not a bad speedo cable....if it's the older style it just might need graphite in the cable...

*points up the list* I'm no genius, but I'd lubricate/replace the speedo cable also.
