Default RE: Rear thud?

You can compress the bushings in the pinion nose a bit more by shortening the steel tube in the centre by a few mm or buy some poly bushings from MM or Steeda.

If you do the poly bushings on the pinion nose, replace the rear bushing as well to even out the load on the 3 mounts.

Also, make sure your rear spindle is okay... That can also cause the clunking noise.

Finally,it could bethe stock CV joints, Before I replaced my 1/2 shafts w/ DSS ones. I looked under the car and found I had quite a bit of slop in the stock CV joints.

I replaced the 1/2 shafts and the clunk has been gone ever since.

Some stock 1/2 shafts have very good tolerences and do nothave this problem. Others do.

Check the tranny mount as well.

If you hear it in the rear, it is NOTtranny mount... You will notice the shifter moving tooo too much, if it was a tranny mount.
