My buddy has a 02 gt with a borla catbackexhaust. I have a 98 gt with Mac lt's, high flow catted midpipe, a flowmaster catback, and 4.10's who would win in a race?
Stock a 98 runs somthing like a ~14.9-14.8 in the 1/4 compared to the 02's 14.1. It's going to take more than that to make up the ground and even more to win.

Yes, I have a Cobalt. 1bad3v
I think it would be reasonable to say the 98 could pull of a 14.5 and plenty of stock PI GT will run around mid 14's, as well. Not to say they can't run quicker.
I still think it going to come down to the driver in a 1/4 mile run.
Still don't know the trannies of either car, but a 98 is rated at 225 HP, factor in full exhaust along with a CAI then tune it. It should be making decent power. Then its geared. I think if he can out launch him, the 02 will have a hard time reeling him in.
