Yeah I think most all GM fans feel like they have been hung out to dry in someway or another. I keep telling myself that GM has to see what they are doing, but as the months go by I see them slowly falling apart. You hardcore Ford guys better hope GM gets it together because if they don't the lack of compition could cause a lack of quality in Ford vehicles for the future.
Thanks for calling me a 'ass' I appreciate that. Great guy.
I dont know if it will lead to a lower quality problem with Ford but it might lead to them not revising the mustang as much or pumping the HP up if there is no competition. I think quality would be something that all manufacturers would be worried about regardless of their competition if they want to stay in business.

Yeah, my bad I didn't make my self clear. I wasn't really saying they would start to make POS cars but rather they could possibly get less creative or become somewhat plain kinda like what you said. Regardless GM needs to get there act together because I don't see lines of people waiting to get there hands on that Colbalt SS.
They just locked in more aftermarket support for it the other day, they are giving some of the aftermarket companies brand new SS's to work with to unveil at the upcoming Sema show. One of the companies is throwing a turbo on the car along with keeping the supercharger. I guess thats the direction GM wants to go with, 4 cylinder front drivers. Good luck to them.
Speed Inc just made a kit that makes 1000rwhp+ on port/polish stock heads/mild cam/bolt-ons/forged bottom end in an LS1....why GM doesn't go with a forged bottom end + power adder, is beyond me. They could make soooo much more power than any other competitor, it's rediculous.

Yeah they could create some factory monsters if they wanted to.
First they got to bring back the camaro or some sort of rear drive platform, of which they killed again. They had it all set for a release sometime in 07 and with their current financial struggles the first thing they did was kill off their new platforms. I dont understand that line of thinking, your current lineup isnt selling and you are losing boatloads of money, so the first thing you do as a company is kill off the car that might be able to start and turn things around. Ford cant keep the new Mustang on the showroom, they had to up production another 80,000 units. All GM has to do is look down the street bring back a retro 67-69 camaro that actually looks good throw a ls2 in it and keep the price down to about 25k or so and they could have the same success as the new mustang.
Nothing against the GTO because i actually like them but they are no where near retro or anything close to resembling its heritage and the price is out of whack. Hmm wonder why they cant sell them..
I'm here in Idaho and last week I was cruising from Twin Falls to Boise (about a 120 mile drive) As soon as I hit the highway from the on ramp I see a White 2004 Cobra next to me with Utah plates... real nice looking. Of course we get on it playing around. We started around 80MPH so I had to start in fourth since third will only go to 95 for me. I pull on him pretty good, about 2 to 3 lengths (now around 130MPH... then slow down again. He gets on my side and we go again, I still pulled on him. So I slowed a third time then he slowed down to 75MPH and would never go again. Anyway I take off (in a hurry to get to Boise) and I need to stop and get gas. As I am in getting a Coke he pulls in to the station and walks in the store, I tried to say hi but he was a total jerk. Anyway that was it... I know all you Stang/Cobra guys aren't jerks like that but he was.
As for the comparison I think the Cobra pulls really hard off the line and I would think it will be very close. On the roll though I think the GTO takes it (mega torque). Problem GTO guys have is most Cobra's are already modded as the GTO just came out. I want to see the new GT500... that thing looks sweeeet!!
My buddy has a 04 gto 6 speed and the best run he could get last weekend was a 14.3. It is stock other than a programmer. I was suprized by the time. I have drove his car an excessive amount and it definatley has some power! My other buddies lightning just lit him up I heard. He hit 13.4 on his best run and he has 20's on it. I told him to get a pair of slick and go see what that thing does. Hooking up is key!

LS2 GTO, are you from Twin Falls? If you ever wanna 'play', I live in Boise, and I have an 01 Saleen that would just love to 'play' with you.
From what Ive read, with the IRS rear suspension and stuff in the 03-04 cobras they were meant to be more of a road course track car then a 1/4 mile car. I dont know if its just a bunch of BS i read but looking at the suspension, 6spd and such in the cobra i wouldnt be suprised if that was what they meant the car to be. Ive heard they have done very very well at the track so if we took the 2 to a road course i would say the gto wouldnt be able to hold its own there but 1/4 or 40mph punch i saw drivers race. Hopefully ill find out first hand tonite...
I may have seen you, I live in Eagle, do you have a Black Saleen??? If so it's a nice one!! Anyway, sure if we ever see each other say HI! I always like to play.

You probably have seen it, it's not black, but it's midnight blue, so it could look black. It is procharged and layed down almost 440 rwhp on the dyno. It's pretty fast. I actually have never lost a race on the street in it, although I was even with a newer Viper recently. Do you ever do the SCCA events?

Oh yeah? Well I have like 230rwhp! You all make me sick. lol Anyway.... you guys have some real nice cars... and Birdie.... I still liked the Orange E better.... (I know the orange had some expensive sounding name cuz it was but it's orange to poor people like me)

Damn... thats alot of horse. I think a Viper would beat me (as long as he knows how to drive), so if you are even with him I am sure you would beat me too....
I want to get involved in the SCCA, I have seen them once in Nampa doing some sort of time trial I think. I just need to know how, where and when. Do you do their events? If you have any information, I'd like some.
Have you raced a new vette yet?? if so how did you do?

The beryllium S281E was awfully sweet. One thing about the blue one is that I can drive it more aggressively than I could the E car. That color stood out like a sore thumb on the road, and when I was out in it, EVERYONE stared at it. I actually indirectly caused 2 wrecks because people were looking at the car and not the road. In one of them, a Camaro came up behind me and got next to me, checking out the car. The car in front of him hit the brakes, and he rear ended the car while actually still gazing at the E car. I saw the whole thing coming.

I try to do as many SCCA events as I can, but it's tough with my on-the-road racing. (I drive a top fuel dragster) You can go to snakeriverscca.org and get the schedule. I'd be happy to come out with you and show you the ropes. I could actually ride with you and help you out. I haven't gotten a race out of a new vette yet; I have tried but they won't race me. Usually, its an older guy, and they usually won't race. I have noticed a blue one around that this older gal drives. I tried to race her once, and she wanted no part of it. I'd get more races if it was a gt and not a Saleen. On top of that, the blower is very audible and tends to scare potential 'marks' away.
Sounds like you have fun with your Saleen. I will take you up on that SCCA offer if you are serious. Sounds like fun. How do we get together? Just let me know...
