Default Oil type

I just got my oil changed today and I had the full synthetic oil put in. Im going into the marines in september so the car will be parked for at least 3 months...the most that will be done to it is going to be just going up the road a few miles and back. Was I right to put the more expensive oil in my 01 GT based on the mindset that it will be better for my engine? Is the full synthetic worth the extra 30 or 40 bucks?

synthetic is worth is although i don't pay someone else to do my oil changes cause they mark up the syn. more and it is expensive already. synthetic is the best for your motor, and it lasts longer(doesn't break down as fast)

+1...if you don't mind paying the extra money for it. I think most oil synthetic or not will protect your engine if it is changed often...but synthetic has better properties in the oil that resist breakdown and can go longer on oil changes than most dino oils and it is known to lubricate far more superior than the dino oils also. I am sure your going to get a swaying of opinions on both sides but in general terms synthetic is a favorite amongst the performance crowd.
