I just have a general question that I am hoping someone can help me out with. I ordered 4 new speakers for my mustang to accompany the JVC KW-AVX810 that I just installed. I have the Mastersheet from crutchfield for speaker installation, but the Mastersheet is for 2005+ and I cannot findone that is for 2007+.
The issue that I am having is that I am not sure what to remove to replace the rear deck speakers. The rear deck in my car is fully carpeted. I would like to know if anyone has replaced these speakers already and what they removed to do so. I am assuming that I will need to remove the bottom portion of my rear seats followed by the plastic panels on the drivers side and passenger side.
Is there another way?

From looking at the crutchfield mastersheets, it looks like the procedure to change the rear speakers has changed from 05-06. For 07+ i believe you need to remove the two rear panels behind the rear windows and pop the rear deck cover off to get at the speakers.

Must cars are like that were the rear panels over lap the carpet on the rear deck. If so all you will have to do is pull up on the carpet in the middle and slide one side out then slide the other side out. If up want to be on the safe side take off those rear side panels.

Yes GTRedfire03, it is a Coupe. I also understand what you mean by "slide one side out then slide the other side out." I am going to see if that will work.
To 08ImportKilla, you are right about the mastersheets. In 05-06 there were plastic grilles on top of the rear deck that clipped into place where the speakers are. This made it much easier to replace/steal speakers... lol.
Thanks for the help guys. I need to get out there and put a little bit more time into it. I will reply to this post and let you know how it goes. I have my 4 Pioneer TS-A6882R speakers that just arrived today. I am gonna try to get the install done early tomorrow morning and I will take pics of whichever method works. The one thing that I am sure of, is that I am so glad that I finally decided to replace the stock speakers. Thanks again guys.
Yeah they made it a pain in the arse to remove the rear speakers. Removing all the plastic in the back of the car is not my idea of fun to replace speakers. I mean I saw a lot of blue metal at one point. I would hate to replace a bad one.
you can remove the speaker from the top, and then when you replace it mount the new one from the bottom. This will make it much much easier if you do need to replace them and it will not do anything different for performance
Hey everyone. I finally got around to replacing the all 4 speakers with my pioneer TS-6882R speakers. I did not take any pics as I said I would, sorry about that. But I can tell you how to change them out. So I will give a quick breakdown of the process in case anyone else needs to know.
Door Speakers
Tools:
1 Flathead Screwdriver or other device for "prying"
1 Driver with Replaceable Heads or ratchet
1 T20 Head
1 T30 Head
1 7mm Socket
You can actually use the 2005+ mastersheet for this. There is only one difference in the removal which is that the mastersheets states that you need to remove Phillips screws which is not true for 2007+. These are standard Ford 7mm heads instead. Doors were a snap to change out. It takes an hour or less for both doors and really is a breeze to do.
Rear Deck
This is a little bit more tricky and will take some time to do, so be ready to have fun, or not.
Tools:
1 Flathead Screwdriver or other device for "prying"
1 Stubby Ratchet with a T20 head (To Remove Speaker Screws)
1. Remove the seat portion of your rear seats. There are clips on the passenger side and drivers side at the bottome part of the seat. Push each clip in and pull the seat towards you.
2. Remove the door sills. You can take a flat head screwdriver to pry them up gently and then pull straight up.
3. Pull the back portion of your rear seats down.
4. There are large plastic side panels in the back seat which include the arm rest for your "back seat passengers." There will be 3 plastic "push in" screws that secure each of these in place. I wont describe the location of each of these but you will find them. Remove those next. Now you can remove the panels on each side.
5. You will notice now that the carpeting has 2 of these plastic pins on each side of the vehicle. You can pull these out. Then slide the seat belts down through the slits that are visible.
6. Pull your carpeted rear deck straight towards you. Your speakers are now exposed.
7. Use your stubby ratchet to remove the screws holding your speakers in place. You can now change them out with the 6x8 speakers of your choice.
Thanks for Ford for only leaving about 2" of room between the rear windshield and the speaker screw. It was a bitch to get my hand in there. Either way, the speakers are changed out. Hope this helped anyone else that had the same issue and I hope that I didn't leave anything out.
This is the exact reason why i am paying Tweeter to install my head unit, front components, rear speakers, and 4 channel amp. I also had them dynamat my doors and rear deck. Had them run wiring for a sub amp as well, so i wouldnt have to do it myself .
Head unit: Alpine ida-x100 (prolly best non touch screen ipod unit out there). Have full speed cable ran into armrest, works quite well with my touch
Front Components: Elemental Designs 6500s
Door Subs: Factory (actually dont sound that bad!)
Rear Speakers: Polk Momo MMC570 5x7
Subwoofer:Infinity Basslink
Dynamat on front doors and rear deck
