Default need help with 4.0 OHV

So here is the deal, my friend has a 2000 ranger and he found a vortech kit for it. (yes, vortech actually made a kit for the ranger/explorer!!!) He is going to need new fuel injectors and a fuel pump.

Does anyone know if the injectors and fuel pump are anything alike the mustang ones?

Do the rangers have returnless or return style fuel systems?

Does anyone have any experience with the "chip" that vortec supplies? Is it any good?

Are the 4.0's the same in all the years? or did ford change anything along the way?

Are the 4.0 OHV's reliable motors? Anyone have any experience with them?

I would appreciate any help that i can get.

Thanks

There are two 4.0L motors that were used in the Exploders and Rangers.... make sure the kit is for the right one. OHV vs SOHC - and even between the same style, Ford made slight changes between years/applications. Both OHV and SOHC are known for intake gasket issues.... so if I was to put boost to one, I'd make sure to put in a new one (even if it hasn't failed yet, they're like $8). Tension pullies are known to be some what weak as well with them, so make sure that is in good order prior to making it hold the belt on a blower.

his is an ohv and im supprized that vortech actually made a kit(they no longer make it)

click the 1991-1994 ford 4.0 OHV link
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...0Ford%20Trucks

Do the 4.0's have a upper and lower intake like the mustangs?

I am assuming that the 1991-2000 ohv 4.0 are all the same. Anyone know?I know they switched over to the sohc in 2001 in the rangers.

Thanks

I'm trying to think back to when I put the blower on my Exploder..... IIRC, intake was plastic composite crap... which is why the cold weather lead to gasket issues.

1999 Sport. I used a ghetto set up I made just to see if I could pull it off and have two roots blown V6 Fords. I sold the blower with some Super Coupe stuff to a local V6 guy - and traded the truck for a 1990 5.0L LX hatch with some mods.

Low ones. I didn't spin the blower very hard. I got maybe 40 hp extra out of the set up. I didn't have the fuel system to do much more either. It was my daily driver.... I just wanted a blower for the added tq when I had to use my truck for hauling animals at work.
