Default Lost To A "Stock" 350Z??

Some idiots who have been pesterring me ever since they got their first "fast" car (Toyota Mark 2 GT-B (1JZ-GTE, Turbocharged 2.5liter), called me up to race last night against their newly acquired manual 350Z.

They said it was totally stock besides bodykit and rims. I decided to check quickly and just make sure and asked them to pop the hood. After whining they did so, the engine bay was dirty as hell and after seeing it still had the stock airbox i quickly assumed it was stock. I doubt he had an exhaust because it was fairly quiet.

First race - We stay next to each other for about a second, in early 2nd gear i start pulling ahead and just kept on going, ended up beating him by a FULL 3 car lenghts.
Second race - (i made a quick stop at the side of the road to talk to my friends, after getting cocky and asking them how much i beat him by) When i line up next to him, i see his brother (flagboy) close the hood but i didnt think anything of it at the time, We launch stay togheter in 1st and he suddenly takes off hard in 2nd and ends up beating me by 3 car lenghts!
Third race - Same story but he misses 3rd..
Fourth race - Again,.. he misses 3rd..(though he was infront of me from the start)
Fifth race - He immediately puts a car lenght on me, i spend the whole quartermile trying to reel in, eventually, i end up beating him by a bumper..

Afterwards i wasn't satisfied but a lookout called and said there was a patrol car coming our way, so we split.

I beat my stock Z(which a friend was driving) by 3 car lengths and my friends lightly modded Z (HKS CAI, HKS Exhaust and unknown mod that causes the car to make a very cool sputtering sound when it shifts)

So now i'm sure their car is NOT stock, but it doesnt have an intake and exhaust like most "novice" modified Z's have.. what could it be hiding?..

Nitrous maybe? how can i check?

This seems about right, Newer Z have better top end than S197 GT and we ve seen what bigger and heavier rims can do

Well if it was an 07 Z and you are stock with 20's I wouldn't be surprised if he was stock and beat you. Do you have an auto or manual? Maybe he just fked up driving in the first race. Wait for your mods and get some 18's for racing and you should be good to go.

Yeah, 07s and up are a good amount faster than previous years. It's not really surprising that you beat your car by 3 leangths and another lightly modded Z. Most N/A mods for the Z really don't do shiit for it anyway.

Might have been stock. Your a stock auto on 20's, but with the planned mods in your sig, your 3 valve in going to wake up!!!

Default RE: Lost To A "Stock" 350Z??

Sorry, i forgot to mention it's an 04 350Z.
I already have my CAI+Tune installed (at the time of the race also)
I saw a set off take-off bullits(tires plus rims)on ebay for $450.
Can't do everything at once, so i'm either gonna order that or 3.73's and UDP's.
(do i need to retune for 3.73's?)
