Default Right Front Turn Signal Stopped Working

Hey everyone, I am hoping to get some help with a turn signal problem. My right front one has quit working. The right rear still works and the left front and rear work. The turn signal indicator light works for the left ones, but it doesn't work for the right. I checked the right front signal bulb and if is fine. I even swapped it with the left one and it still wouldn't work. Does anyone know a good place to start as far as trying to find the problem. They were all working fine a week ago and then all of a sudden the right front stopped working, as well as the indicator when the signal switch lever is onfor right turn. Thanks for any help.

Get out the test light and start probing. The first thing I would check is the ground. Most often its a ring terminal with a screw thru the radiator support. Also, does the park light work? If not, most likely its the ground or a loose plug connection.

The parking lights do work. Just not the turn signal. When I turn on the right turn signal I can hear the turn signal flasher unit working, it is clicking like it should. I just can't figure out why the turn signal isn't working. What else am I missing?? The light works for the parking light but it doesn't work for the turn signal. Could it be something in the turn signal switch? I would think that if that was the problem it would effect all of the turn signals, not just one.

The flasher still clicks because the rear turn signal is still working loop. Does the right turn signal indicator flash faster than normal? I would check where the circuit grounds first, corrosion often gets to it.

Do you know the basics of electrical circuits? It kinda doesn't sound like it. Use a test lamp probe to see if the hot lead to the turn signal lamp is getting any electricity. If not then you have a an open in the circuit somewhere before the lamp...get out a repair manual for the circuit diagram and start back tracking.

You don't know the horror electrical problems in the lighting system can cause until you're flying down a dark highway at 80mph in a 65 fastback when the high beams switch decides it's time to break due to corrosion....shutting off all of your lights and initiating an ear piercing shriek from your female passengers.

I agree that yo are going to have to trace this out. The most likely causes would be a bad conection at the light plug, the firewall plug or Most likely, the switch. Turn on the switch, then wiggle it around and see if you can get the light to work. That may require a second person or a wall to see the reflection on.

The right front and the dash indicator are on the same circuit. Drop your emergency brake handle, and the connector for your turn signal switch will be visible. Unplug it, clean the connectors, plug it back in, and try it again. If it doesn't work it is probably contacts in the switch itself. Backprobe the connector to see if your are getting power at that point. If there is power at the connector, then need to move on down the line. Probably ground. Cheers..
