Default 5.0

My friend is getting a 95 5.0 soon, and he says when he gets heads that his 5.0 will be a 12 second car in the 1/4 mile. I know these 5.0
s take nicely to mods, but, i dont think there is any way in hell this will be a 12 second car, or even a 13 second car. He said if he gets "aluminum heads" he will be in the 12's.

I'm sure somebody here would know something about this, any help?

Right now with my mods my car is running low 14s in 90 degree weather with a lot of humidity and ****ty launches. If I can get the launches down in good weather my car can see high 13s no problem. Now with an extra 100 whp my car would be sitting solidly in the 12s. An h/c/i swaped 5.0 can see as much as 300-325 whp depending on the setup. Just to give you an idea.

So, I'm assuming there is no way with heads a 5.0 is a 12 second car, or even a 13 second car for that matter? This car is going to be his DD so it is full weight.

With just heads he is going to be disappointed. He needs a cam and intake to take advantage of them. He's also going to need bolt-ons like an exhaust and intake, not to mention the fuel mods.

With my EFI setup i had, i had GT40 Aluminum heads, 1.7 Rockers, cam, edelbrock performer intake, 70mm tb, 24# inj.,bigger mass air and a chip. With it being stick shift it went best of 12.43 @108. Now it has a c4 and has went 12.80 at best. Currently doing carb swap hoping to pick back up a little bit. But in my opinion 5.0's take bolt ons better than anything else. Oh and by the way, thats with a 100,000 mile plus bottom end....hehe, gota love it!!

But you had a proper setup with all the stuff needed to make it run right, if this guy thinks that just a head swap is getting him into the 12s he's smokin' something and I want some.

A 95 GT will run a low 15 stock(with manual). My auto went 16.0(CAI, Shift-kit, Flows). They are not the fastest[>:]
