Default Autometer oil pressure gauge???

Hey guys I'm thinking about installing an autometer sport comp II oil pressure gauge. The electrical one. I heard this is a good idea due to the factory gauge only telling u when u have over 7psi on the oil pressure. The stock one is basically just an idiot gauge and doesnt really serve a purpose. My question is I know the autometer gauge comes with a sender but where do I install it at? Do I gotta T into the factory sender so my stock one works? I obviously cant take the stock one out and the new one in cause then the stock gauge wont work at all and I'll probably get codes. I heard though that our cars(99-04v6's) have a plug on the end of the oil filter that you can use to install the sender? Anyone verify if this is true?? I have a 2000 V6 and wanted to know if anyone knew how to do this before I order the gauge. Thanks everyone.
