Default clutch cable snapped

i need to figure out why it snapped.

when i install the new cable what should I be lookin for?

i need a cable asap and the only one i can get is some cheap-o from autozone for like $20.

im guna re-use the stock quadrant for this cable and once i get paid ill buy a nice adjustable aluminum quadrant and stronger cable.

my clutch began sticking and becoming "easier" to depress.

i let my friend drive it because it didnt feel right. he put it to the floor and it made a loud noise. i look under the dash and its ripped in about 4 pieces.

i dont know if it stretched but some of the cable ended up behind the heater controls.

anyone got any tips for installing/removing the cable? thanks

if you have a stock quadrant theres a little plastic piece that looks like a gear that will make the cable tighter as it gets stretched u need a buddy to keep the cable on the quadrant cause if u dont it will be a pain in the *** and what i do is get a tire tool and push the fork towards the motor

mine broke on me last week and ive only had it since i did a 5-spd swap... which was about a year ago, but i had a bbk cable and aluminum quadrant and an aluminum firewall adjuster... i heard the best cable to use is the factory ford one... i was told the bbk ones wear out fast mine lasted a year...
