ok i want to pay my car myself...i kno it doesnt come out as good as professional but im doing that down the road i just want my car one shade of black instead of 3 lol ive seen people do it and it comes out decent...wut primer/paint/clear coat should i use and about how much does it cost?
i wanted the same so i just got done doing mine in the garage of my house and for a total of 150 bucks i think it turned out awesome and my father in law who helped me said that maaco and eral scheib aint got sh#t on us..haha..and as far as everything i bought some 220,320,400,500,600 sandpaper, about 5-8 rolls of tape , i used a total of 3 quarts of paint which mixed was like a gallon and a half and i got to good solid coats on her, followed by sanding and cleaning and sanding and masking and so on and so on....heres how it turned out still have to find a few things such as door belt molding,a new cowl piece and couple other things and the paint is a 1 stage enamel "pitch black"..and here u go...
and some black again
and almost back together and 1 round of wet sanding and buffing still have a little more buffing to do..

You can get a cheap paint gun from Lowes or home depot for around 70 I think. they also sell small paint gun kits in Lowes last i was there. Just need a decent air compressor and make sure you have a water separator on it.

ppg, sikkens, spies hecker, and basf. all make good priners, paint, and clearcoats, I LOVE Sikkens, and in myopinion they are the best on the market. a set up (priner, sealer, base, and clear) of sikkens should be around 5 or maybe even 600 for their top of the line. you can get a medium grade or even a basic grade cheaper and it still really good paint
not bad...how much dirt got in it?? I saw the plastic drapped = good thinking!!..did you wet down the area around it and mist areas as to not kick up any dust??
