Default RE: painting my car

i wanted the same so i just got done doing mine in the garage of my house and for a total of 150 bucks i think it turned out awesome and my father in law who helped me said that maaco and eral scheib aint got sh#t on us..haha..and as far as everything i bought some 220,320,400,500,600 sandpaper, about 5-8 rolls of tape , i used a total of 3 quarts of paint which mixed was like a gallon and a half and i got to good solid coats on her, followed by sanding and cleaning and sanding and masking and so on and so on....heres how it turned out still have to find a few things such as door belt molding,a new cowl piece and couple other things and the paint is a 1 stage enamel "pitch black"..and here u go...

and some black again

and almost back together and 1 round of wet sanding and buffing still have a little more buffing to do..

You can get a cheap paint gun from Lowes or home depot for around 70 I think. they also sell small paint gun kits in Lowes last i was there. Just need a decent air compressor and make sure you have a water separator on it.

ppg, sikkens, spies hecker, and basf. all make good priners, paint, and clearcoats, I LOVE Sikkens, and in myopinion they are the best on the market. a set up (priner, sealer, base, and clear) of sikkens should be around 5 or maybe even 600 for their top of the line. you can get a medium grade or even a basic grade cheaper and it still really good paint

haha got just a little not really anything we set up a couple fans up and craked the garage door and fired away..no wetting the floors or anything and once we buffed it it all looked damn good for a garage job.my father in law had a set of nice guns we used and my 30 gallon compressor,2 filters and a seperator and there u have it i had no realk prior painting experience and my f-inlaw painted a few mowers and a car or 2.

and the primer and paint was duponts nason line...1 stage enamel..
