You can never have too much power, just not enough traction.

No, DRs are not cheater tires. If you don't grip well with regular shoes, they begome a necessity.
DO NOT get 555r's if you are serious about getting drag radials.
555Rs are a fine drag radial, assuming one gets a wide size (I don't speak for the skinny sizes). They need to be warmed up well to work, but what drag radial doesn't?
I still can't really understand wtf the OP is trying to ask...
The original DOT labeled drag tires where 'Cheater Slicks'.They are essentially Slicks with two grooves and a DOT number.
M&H still sells these. They were developed for NHRA Stock Eliminator when Stock required DOT Tires.
The RII is the same compound as the R just with a stiffer sidewall for roadracing.
You need to find out the actual rule.
If its 'No Drag Radials' then you would use the Bias Ply MT ET Streets.
If its 'No tire developed for Drag Racing' then use McCreary Road Star 60 in DIRT Compound and if you must use a radial use the RII's.
If its a limit based on the wear rating... ie 'must have a rating over 100' then the Federal 595, Kumho MX, and Falken Azenis RT615 are popular.

555r's are like a sticky street tire. Even with 10second burnouts, I couldn't launch higher than 3000rpm with them...with my Hoosier DOT DR's, I can launch from over 5k with no problems. Not to mention, a drag radial used for daily driving on the street should NOT be lasting 15000 miles and 20 passes and still have 50% tread
