First off, #3 actually works. The other 5 dont work. #3 should not be on this list for that reason. It may be dangerous, but that doesn't mean it isn't effective.

And for what its worth, I do it all the time! Just not behind a tractor trailer. Usually when I'm not in heavy traffic. My old car I did more often and it wasn't a bother becuase it didnt have powersteering anywaysand manual brakes was no problem with a sub2000lb car. I regularly got around ~55mpg with such techniques and believe it or not, once drove 300 miles averaging 78mpg.

My current DD is different, so I do it differently, but not dangerously or anything.

Just tonight I was able to drive 4.2miles without a single drop of gas. If the stoplights would work in my favor, I bet I could get 8miles before I had to make my turn, not using a drop...

Congrats on living in a location where bicycling is a reasonable form of transportation. I, however, am not...Nor can I walk, takethe bus, taxi, train, subway, monorail....nothing...

Anyways, my car is rated at 17mpg, so 4.2miles without gas is a noticable bit.

Of course if we asked the oil companies why they don't bother to line up their gasoline molecules nice and neat before selling them to us, their answer would surely be, "Because **** you, that's why!" And then they'd light a cigar with a billion dollar bill.
