I bought my car (1995 Mustang) last year in May for my 16th and I've had quite a bit of fun, done some mild modding (nothing into the engine) and it's just been a blast.
A few months ago I started having some overheating problems.. first the water pump went, then the rad fan, and then I had to replace the rad, .. replace the rad fan again, the thermostat, and went through quite a lot of coolant in the process. Chased the problems around until yesterday when my car would absolutely not keep itself cool. Ended up getting it towed to a shop that quoted me approximately $2300 to get a new head, lifters, and all the other bits and pieces done and dealt with (for the worst case scenario).
I also have the option of getting a 96 V6 motor for $1000, or a 2000 V6 for $1000 as well.. and installed for $500, either one I choose.. I know there will be some of the same costs on top of that as well, such as oil, coolant, etc.
I'm opting for the 2000 V6... what is different from a 1995 to a 2000? Or is the 95 to 96 V6 swap a lot easier/better?
Thanks for any help/suggestions/comments.

Because of the ECU difference I'm going to get the top end rebuilt and the valves on the other side machined, etc. Also because the 2000 v6 is an unknown engine and the 1996 has 163k km's... and mine is still quite a bit lower than that.
You can do the top end if you want, I would get the 2000 simply for the HP increase. You could always get the 2000 and pull off the top end just to check it and do a parsial rebuild.
