reezy -> Exhaust (2/20/2003 7:58:52 PM)

Hello everybody I am new to this forum and i just recently purchased a 2003 GT. I want to put exhaust on it and I want it to be loud but also have some performance increase. What are some options? Thanks

equal length shorty headers, bassani x pipe w/high flow cats, and mandrel bent pipes. and two chamber flows of course.

Always go with the flow

as far as headers go, ceramic coated if you can!!!

headers are pricy though..i'm pretty sure u gotta yank out the engine a bit to put them on...never heard of anyone putting headers on a 4.6 w/out yanking the engine. good luck if you do though

what spike said...

what noslow said about what spike said

thanks guys...im not really plannin on puttin headers on just yet...but what is the difference between h-pipes and x-pipes?? also which mufflers are best for being loud and for performance...thanks in advance

lloydchristmas -> Exhaust (2/22/2003 8:55:53 PM)

FLOWMASTER

spike306 -> Exhaust (2/22/2003 11:12:22 PM)

x has a better configuration for flow

lloydchristmas -> Exhaust (2/23/2003 8:43:06 PM)

Ive never used the x pipe but it seems to be a pretty popular thing now. Im going to have to try it out. Spike says its pretty good and from what I read on here he's a pretty smart cookie

itismejoshy -> Exhaust (2/24/2003 12:39:14 AM)

does any one know if you have to pull the motor to put shorties on?? i am pretty sure you do to go all out with the LT's but was wondering if shorties could be scweaked in?

cougar -> Exhaust (2/24/2003 7:13:04 AM)

u can put them in without movin motor in a 89..but i would go with full length headers if you can.alot better flow.

lloydchristmas -> Exhaust (2/24/2003 3:59:22 PM)

I know in a fox body you can do it with out pulling the motor. BUt why? Pulling the motor is half the fun

I hear that bassani makes some baddass exhaust, but does anyone know how their mufflers compare to that of flowmaster and magnaflow? ( sound and performance)

spike306 -> Exhaust (3/2/2003 6:28:02 PM)

i have their x-pipe, and it rules!! but i haven't heard much about the mufflers

noslow50 -> Exhaust (3/6/2003 11:09:00 PM)

Bassani does make a bad ass exhasut system... only thing is which is a good thing is it is all stainless steel... bad thing is it is very expensive compared to everything else... plus i heard they sound awsome....i'm thinkin about anew exhaust also... only thing is i can't decide.... for sure i would get the bassani x pipe but i can't decide between the flowmaster cat back or a spntech side exit....

KnightOwL -> Exhaust (3/7/2003 12:11:04 AM)

Im going to get the Bassani X Pipe with high flow Cats, and decided to stick to my Borla CatBack system. Since its all Stainless Steel. This way, I will have a complete stainless steel exhaust system.

I was going to switch it out with the Flowmaster catback system, but found out a little more about the one I had, which is the Borla one. I check the price on the Borla Catback and it was expensive ($550), so its hard to ditch it.

One question. How much differnet does Flows and Borla mufflers sound? And is the performance any different? Ok, that was two questions. LoL!!!

noslow50 -> Exhaust (3/9/2003 6:31:49 PM)

all after market catbacks r good for hp .... no real big difference.... just sound....borla will last longer but i believe that the flows have a better sound.... my 2 cents

lloydchristmas -> Exhaust (3/9/2003 7:54:34 PM)

Borla has that really cool Ferrari type sound if thats what youre into. But flowmasters make everything sound like an animal!!!!! And thats always good
