so i picked up a set of 4.10 ford racing gears brand new in box + 4 eichbach lowering springs yeah i know i spelled that wrong with eurathane bushings front and rear and complete eurthane chassis kit which really isnt much more, oh and a calabrating box for the gears all brand new in box for 100$ forit all
so the point of this post is, whats the reality of installing your own gears? and whats the worst case scenario if something goes wrong?
also, if you think this is better left to a shop does anyone know any good shops in or around maryland? im 5 minutes from PA and about 20 from Wva close to hagerstown if anyone knows where that is

dont do the gears yourself. you have to know exactly what youre doing, and its something that can be screwed up fairly easily. a buddy of mine bought his car with 4.10's installed. but what he didnt know, was that they werent installed correctly and the rear started knocking real bad. in short, he had to pay for new gears, and the cost to have them reinstalled.
my suggestion, just get it done right the first time.

All your bolts come off, your differential seizes, your rear tires lock up, you spin out on the highway right infront of a semi truck, you get run over, and you die... the semi truck driver loses control, and ends up hitting a minivan, sending the minivan into the opposite side of traffic, causing a head on collision in to a car. You have now killed yourself, the family in the minivan, possible a semi truck driver, and another family in the car that the minivan hit.
