I had a Cavalier Z24, and my buddy bought one right after I did(and after I wrecked mine). The 5-spd Z-24's will run 15.2's with a good driver, and with the car completely stock. It's not too bad for an economy car, I guess. Although, I couldn't stand the cheap interior, manual slushbox, and the awful wheel hop.

Basically, I don't understand how anyone can talk crap about how fast their car is when they're running nitrous...

Nitrous...wow...

wow, 2000si, you really hurt my feelings, cause the only reason I came here was to gain your respect. I guess I messed up huh?

That's cool. 27 mpg huh? rock on. Too bad you're not a true 13 second car since you have to spray to get it there. But hey 13s are 13s, right?

What year is your car anyway? I do enjoy the look of the newer Z24s with the 2.4s are they?

Anyway, I've never lost to one. Older V6s, bubble Z24s or ECOTEC.

Still though, I respect a car for it's capabilities, but it seems you want to come up in here all big and bad with your 4 posts and insult me for no other apparent reason than trying to look tough. I'm sorry but I don't show respect for people who want to throw inane comments at me, you don't gain respect from other car enthusiasts when you do it. So try to settle down, mmkay?

Must be nice to have a big tough internet ego to show off when you can't talk crap in person.

Why does everyone hate on Nitrous. Is it because it is temporary? Think of nitrous like this. It frees up power that your car potentially has by adding oxygen. If that's cheating then so are gears. Gears make your car faster by utilizing power at different spots. Nitrous is a cheaper form of FI and it deserves a little respect. I see it like this. There are two types of people who hate on nitrous. 1. Those who actually concentrate on running NA cars because they like the idea of all motor cars. 2. Little girls who are scared they might blow an intake manifold because they've seen so many cars blow up with nitrous and haven't taken the time to research nitrous and its effects on a motor. I'd say most people fall under category 2.

i used to run a cavy z24 it was pretty fun, but i'm passed that now. i used mine to surprise people. stock exuast, a few bolt ons probably not even 200 bucks worth, and a $560 nitrous wet kit. i never tried to run v8's (i would get smoked anyways, and if i used nitrous on them i would just get flamed). besides that i had to much respect for em', all my buddies run either a chevy or a stang. and one with a t-bird. BUT i LOVED to run ricers who thought i was just some newb with a cavalier. that was the most fun i ever had with that car.

I've been on defense since the first post. I find it funny how the thread is titled "blown away by a cavalier Z24" and people want to come in here and rip on the Z24, behind my back. Well, a friend of mine pointed out this thread, so now I'm here to defend myself. If you think it's just an internet ego, fine whatever. And if you think ntrous is cheating, great for you. If you ask me, it takes alot more balls to spray your daily driven 4 banger into the 13's than it does to throw a couple bolt ons and dr's on your V8 muscle car and run that number, but hey, what do I know. So don't be suprised if I lack enthusiasm about all your wonderful posts (to all the haters).

everyone's going to have their opinions. and every forum dogs the other cars. look at how mustangs get on vettes, or how camaro guys dog the mustang. it's all a matter of preference...me, i got rid of my J in order to pursue something with alot more horse power. and which would be alot easier to work on if i had problems. although i loved my z24. i just couldn't see it in the 11's for under the cost of the value of the car.

if you're in the 13's more power to you. the best i got to was 13.89 on a 100 wet shot. and i thought it was fast for still having stock exuaghst. i'll miss surprising ricers. but with my new car either fox or supercoupe, it will ake itself known.

BWAHAHAH!! Spoken like someone with a truley slow car.

I bet you love those new Cobra's though, don't you.

The only way to make a streetable monster is through nitrous.

Nitrous is a modification just like anything else. So what if it is a cheaper form of FI than a turbo or blower? I for one don't use spray and probably will keep it that way, but if I lose to someone who does I'll take it as a loss, not try to copout by saying, "Dude, you only won cuz you have nitrous!" Bottom line, cheap HP is still HP.

ORIGINAL: 2000SiSo my stock 30 mpg Civic is an F&F car? Hey here's an idea, go back to jbody.org and don't ever try to insult my car again.

Dont take so personal, Im sure he was just kidding. Hes a pretty cool guy, from what I can tell on the other forum. If you got you Si for gas mileage why did you go for something like a 92-95 Civic VX,LX,DX or 96-00 HX,DX,LX? all of those get like 40-50mpg. I love the gas milage my car got when I had the stock LX motor.

If we loved cavi's we'd join a forum called cavalierforums.com the fact is that your bringing a chevy car into a ford forum and expecting people to like it. There's nothing wrong with liking them and coming here but just don't expect everyone to agree with you.

Nothing againts you 2000si, SilverBullet, that made my lmao! Here is my idea of the F&F crowd. First of all, rice is gay. My car has no whale tale spoilers, or ricey fart cans poping out the rear, or stickers galore. I dont even have the cool led lights anywhere. It always goes down like this for some reason. An import guy makes a comment about his car, and how it compares to a V-8. Most of the time, this first comment tends to prove that his 4 banger is faster. When he then gets put in his place, it always seems that a rebutle enters with the effect of either " Well, Im this fast and still get 20mpg in the city!" or "Well, when you are broken down on the side of the road, I will ricer-fly-by your ass!" I'm so sick of that crap. 2000SI, this in no way is pointed at you, or relates to you in any way.

The whole comment by SilverB just made me laugh really hard.

His Cavalier is damn impressive for what it is, and no, nitrous is not cheating. Whoever wins the race is all that matters, how you do it is your choice. There is a local one in Grand Rapids that just turned 106+ traps with a turbo.

I myself own a cavalier that beats mildly modded mustang GTs at the track and on the street my car cost 13 grand brand new with rebates on top of that and is a decently quick little car. I love mustangs and F body's for that matter and would love to own one. But being a 22 year old college student I do not have the money. I know they are not the most popular cars in the world and there are haters everywhere but around here I get nothing but respect for my car. I do not see why people down nitrous it is probably because they have a slow car or have never used it before.

Thanks to all the people who are open minded about the subject, but I guess even when I break 12's in my stock looking Z24, there will still be haters. It's ok, I have learned to expect it. The whole purpose behind making this little car fast is to blow people's minds, and/or ruffle some feathers, which I get my share of both it seems. I can get along with anybody who loves cars, and I know my Cavalier will never be the car that can beat any other car on the street. It's just not worth it, but it's fun the way it is now. If I ever want to go faster than high 12's or low 13's, I'll just put slicks and a 200 shot on my old 335 WHP 1952 Chevy and see what she can do.

Well, It was requested of me to post these vids of the night in question. The first vid is the race that the original post was about, and the second vid is a run I had earlier in the day. Please excuse the shaky camerawork, beggars can't be choosers, and a buddy of mine did me a favor and sat a couple runs out to sit in the grandstands.

Bogger33 vs, JuicedZ24

JuicedZ24 vs 4.6 'Stang GT

And for any of you who are interested (like, all 3 of you) here are a couple pics of the Z24.

Now would you expect an innocent looking compact car like this to run low 13's? Now hopefully you get a better idea of just how twisted my sense of humor is. BTW, if I was the kind of guy who hustled, I could probably make a bit of money street racing suckers.

I wanted some pep in my daily driver as well. mid 15s and 30 mpg, that's still cheap on insurance.
